Adrian and Josh

Dear Birthmother

Hello from Atlanta, Georgia! We are so excited to get to know you! Thank you for choosing adoption and for taking the time to get to know us. We are incredibly excited to become parents and hope this profile provides a glimpse into our lives as a couple and family. If lucky enough to be chosen, we promise to provide a loving home filled with laughter and surrounded by amazing family and friends.

Warmest regards,

Adrian & Josh

About Us: We met several years ago in Atlanta while Adrian was finishing his medical training and Josh had just started his. We quickly found medicine was not the only thing we had in common, spending the next few years experiencing the wonderful world around us through travel, local festivals, family holidays, and laughing at our goofy dogs.

In May 2015, we tied the knot surrounded by our family and friends. We always knew we wanted a family of our own and we were lucky enough to become parents through adoption in 2017 with the birth of our son. Since then, he’s been our companion on many adventures traveling both at home and abroad.

We have since moved to a beautiful community in Maine where we have access to all kinds of outdoor activities.  Our favorites are visits to the beach where we can run from the waves, find shells and little sea creatures, and fly kites.  Our son is now 3 and very much ready for a little brother or sister to play with and love.

Work Life: Both of us work as emergency physicians and love the challenge that work presents while giving us the opportunity to serve others and make a real difference in their lives. Many assume our work is very demanding, and while it is challenging, working in the ER allows us flexible scheduling and the ability to cut back on hours as needed to meet family demands.

Dear Birthmother

About Josh

Meet Josh by Adrian: From the moment I met Josh I was instantly drawn in by his warm and wonderfully upbeat personality. He makes me laugh constantly and I couldn’t imagine a better partner in raising a family than him. We have built a wonderful life together in Atlanta and he makes sure every day is a new adventure no matter what we do.

His two years in Honduras serving in the Peace Corps instilled in him an enduring spark for bettering the lives of others. He is very aware of the challenges faced by underserved communities as he works as an emergency physician in the state’s largest public hospital. It never ceases to amaze me how he has balanced his work responsibilities with community service. He inspires me to be a better person every day and I know he will do the same for our child.

About Josh

About Adrian

Meet Adrian by Josh: One of the first things that attracted me to Adrian was his ability to listen. He is such a great listener and the first person I want to go to to celebrate good news or for support after a bad day. Similarly, he is extremely thoughtful and always goes out of his way to make sure others have what they need, its what makes him the perfect host for dinner gatherings or family events.

Since getting established in our own home, Adrian has become the official family host, organizing Thanksgiving, Christmas, a July 4th barbeque, and birthdays. With each event, he dives in considering each guest and planning an evening of delicious food and fun. He also goes all out for Halloween, turning our front yard and porch into a spooky graveyard with a fog machine and sound effects. Over the past few years, our house has become an essential stop for local trick-or-treaters. I love seeing the joy Adrian takes in creating special experiences for others and can’t even imagine what he would put together for his own child. It’s that thoughtfulness and attention to others that I know will make him a great dad.

About Adrian

Meet Big Brother Alec

Alec recently turned 3 and we can’t imagine our lives without him. We were lucky enough to be matched with his birth mom a few months before he was born.  We didn’t know much about open adoption before but it has been a great experience: sharing photos at birthdays and holidays and knowing that his birth mom is doing well.

Alec is so social and loving and we know he’ll be a great big brother.  It’s already clear he likes to laugh and has a great personality.  He’s quick to make friends with new kids he meets and loves to explore playgrounds and parks.

Home Sweet Home: We’ve spent the last few years making our home an inviting and welcoming place to host family and friends. When looking to buy, we decided on a home larger than our current needs knowing this would be a forever home where we could start our family. We are fortunate to live in a quiet in-town neighborhood just one block from the local park and playground. Young families who are very active in our local schools have created a strong community that is sure to be nurturing and full of opportunities.

Our Hobbies: Most of our shared hobbies revolve around exploring the world around us, near and far.  On vacations, we love travelling to new places, experiencing local culture, and sometimes learning new languages.  Josh spent time in the Peace Corps in Honduras after college, so he is fluent in Spanish and loves to travel through Central and South America.  He’s a big fan Honduran coffee and still keeps in touch with the coffee farmers he worked with there.  Adrian’s favorite travel spot is South Africa, offering rich history, culture, and natural wonders.

On weekends or other days off, we enjoy getting out into nature.  Our dogs love to go on hikes with us and will take any opportunity to jump in a creek or lake for a swim.  We also enjoy taking our kayaks out for leisurely paddles or getting down to the coast for beach days.

Our Family

Family is very important to the both of us. We are lucky to have a large extended family with frequent visits.  We both have siblings with small children of their own, so our cousin crew is growing pretty strong.  We have a few couples we have now been friends with for over 10 years that we consider as close as family.  They now have children of their own and we have loved the opportunity to raise our families together.  Family traditions are important for both of our families and we tend to play the roles of family organizers, often hosting our large Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas morning gift exchange, and summer barbeques.

Meet Maebe and Tobey: Our pups love meeting new people. Maebe and Tobey have been our loyal friends for the past three years. Maebe is the quiet, relaxed one, while Tobey is always up for playtime and loves to cuddle. They are sociable dogs and are always excited to give kisses to any new friends. They’ve been great with our friends’ children and will definitely enjoy having a kid around.

Our Promise to You: We promise to…

  • Instill values of kindness, respect, understanding, and service
  • Support our child in achieving their dreams and realizing their full potential
  • Raise our child in a home full of laughter and love
  • Surround our child with supportive family and pass along the traditions that have been so important in our own upbringing

Final Thoughts: Thank you again for choosing adoption and for taking the time to get to know us. We hope you’ve gotten a glimpse of who we are and the loving parents we would be. We can’t wait to hear from you!

With our warmest regards,

Adrian & Josh
