Andy & Sheila
Hello! We are Sheila & Andy from CT!
Dear Birth Mother: We hope this helps you learn who we are and why we may be the perfect family for your child.
We can’t express how much we value and respect the incredible journey you are undertaking. The kindness and selflessness of your choice will undoubtedly bring immeasurable joy to your chosen parents and child.
Know that we want what you want; to be loving and attentive parents to a beautiful child. We promise to provide support, unconditional love, and plenty of adventures! We are excited to share this journey with you!
How We Met & Life Today: We met on Match, twice. The first time, we emailed but never met and lost touch. We still banter about who didn’t call who back. Fast forward two years later when we came across each other ‘s profiles again and finally went on a first date. We instantly connected and our dinner date stretched to almost 4 hours. Despite being our first-time meeting, we knew we each found someone more special than either of us had before. Dating couldn’t have been better; visiting wineries, train rides to NYC, driving to see fall foliage, sleigh rides in Vermont.
After a year of dating, we got engaged at Glacier Point overlooking the Yosemite Valley. Less than a year after that we were married. When you know you know, and we 100 % knew. We are now happily married for 4 years.
We are fun, outgoing people who believe family and friends are essential to a happy life. We are blessed to be surrounded by such a large group of caring people who support us and our dreams.
We have always dreamed about having a child to grow our family. From the first time we spoke about being parents we decided adoption would always be part of our path. After failed attempts at pregnancy we discussed multiple fertility options but we were always drawn back to adoption. We are inspired by family who adopted their beautiful daughter, Lily, and how she has changed their life. We knew this was how we would grow our family. We are looking forward to that same experience.
We Love To Travel: Every 3 or 4 months we try and explore somewhere new. We enjoy the warm beaches of the Caribbean and Siesta Key in the winter months, a Napa vineyard in Spring and visiting family in Northern California and Oregon as often as we can.
Our favorite vacations are the annual trips to a National Park. We’ve gone every year since meeting, and it’s become a highly anticipated tradition in our home. We’ve been to Yosemite, Yellowstone and Acadia stateside. But so far, our favorite is Banff in Alberta, Canada and we plan to return when we can.
A Little About Sheila: I was born and raised in Connecticut. Growing up in the country provided me with so many happy memories. I rode my bike through hiking trails, picked summer strawberries, jumped in huge piles of fall leaves and went sledding on snow days. When I wasn’t playing outside, I was a total girly-girl. Dresses, skirts and braided ribbon barrettes were my jam. I loved boy bands and NKOTB was my guilty pleasure.
My parents encouraged me to try new activities as well as to pursue what interested me at the time. I was involved in school plays, color guard and a very New England tradition: powder puff football.
Nowadays I have traded boy bands for Beyoncé and skirts for scrubs. I am a registered nurse. I worked for many years in an ICU as a critical care nurse and 2 years ago I left the ICU to treat the outpatient community.
Being a nurse is challenging but I love what I do and it’s the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. Working as an outpatient nurse I am fortunate to have a flexible schedule. I am lucky to have a career that offers such flexibility and work for an employer who supports a healthy work/life balance.
I look forward to making Halloween costumes, cooking breakfast crepes and being my child’s biggest cheerleader just as my parents did for me.
• I love dogs!
• Redwoods mesmerize me and I visit them any chance I get
• I love making shepard’s pie on a snowy day
• Summer is my favorite season (the beach, cookouts, bicycling, 4th of July)
• I enjoy gardening and watching all the beautiful flowers bloom in our yard
A Little About Andy: I was born and raised in the suburbs of New Jersey the youngest of 3 with an oldest sister and a middle brother. My mom was a secretary and my dad was a math teacher. It was a modest upbringing by parents who loved and supported us in our dreams and wanted as much for us as they could provide.
I’ve always been mechanically inclined and loved to take things apart, much to my parents’ chagrin, so studying engineering was an easy choice. Following my fascination with planes, I landed my dream job as an aircraft design engineer. My career took off after that and gave me opportunities to travel the country and the world. I truly love my job and am proud of what I do. My schedule is very flexible and I’m able to work from home when ever needed. A title of Mr. Mom will be worn proudly.
But the “nerdy engineer” is only half of me. The other half is an adventurer. I like to hike, camp, and backpack. (Sheila’s a reluctant trooper on campouts so I’m really looking forward to a partner on those adventures.) My travel bucket list (which Sheila is totally on board with) is still full. And places that I was taken to as a kid, like Disney and Carlsberg Caverns, are places I imagine going back to with a son or daughter.
Fun Facts About Andy:
• I have lived in 7 states and traveled to 14 countries
• I played the cello throughout high school
• I backpacked for 5 weeks through New Zealand
• I’ve read harry potter and Lord of the Rings several times over
• I have a telescope and love looking at the stars
Our Loving Families
Sheila’s younger brother Scott lives with his fiancé Ting in California. They just welcomed their first child, a son, Ethan. Andy’s sister, Liz, is married to Kevin and lives in New Jersey with their daughter Holly. His brother, Ed lives with his wife Kate in Oregon and their two children, Oliver and Lily. They were blessed to adopt their daughter and we’re so glad our children will always share a special bond because of that.
Both our moms are well and active with Sheila’s nearby, and Andy’s just an hour away. Both are excited for a new grandchild to arrive and dote over.
Staying close is very important to us all. We FaceTime and text regularly, visit as often as we can, and have even vacationed together in Maine and Wyoming.
Our Friends: When we married, we brought together two great communities of friends. Sheila’s friends date back to sixth grade and she’s been collecting more ever since. Andy’s friends may not have the history, but they are very close and act like they grew up together.
Our closest friends can’t wait to be called (unofficial) Aunt and Uncle and for their children to gain a new best friend.

Our Home and Closing Thoughts
Our Forever Home: We live in Connecticut only a half a block from a beach on the Long Island Sound. It’s a beautiful home with ocean views, a great backyard, a front porch and plenty of rooms for family and guests. Sheila loves how it looks at Christmas with snow and lights.
It’s a small, quiet neighborhood with a good mix of new and established families. In our neighborhood, we get to enjoy; houses decorated to their peaks at Christmas, a never-ending stream of Halloween trick or treaters and 4th of July fireworks so thick overhead it feels like you could reach out and touch them.
Our town is very “New England” with the Green just a short walk away which is the center of most local activity.
Summer is busy with weekend art fairs, holiday parades, and farm stands. Fall brings the apple festival with hot cider donuts and pumpkin flavored everything. Our favorite season is Christmas-time when you can listen to carolers at the tree lighting and even meet Santa if you’d like.
We also get to take advantage of a local train into NYC to see Broadway shows, friends or family. It really is a great place to live. A small-town feel surrounded by big city culture.
Our Pups: Maggie was a pound puppy Sheila rescued. She is an 8-year-old Beagle mix who is sweet and gentle but afraid of the vacuum and plastic bags. Maggie loves perching on top of the sofa and being covered with a blanket at bedtime.
Lula is 4-year-old hound mix we rescued together. “Lou” is the sensitive snuggle-dog who loves to play and wants to be near her family. She is calm, obedient, affectionate and a marathon sleeper. Both dogs love walks on the beach, hiking through the woods, playing fetch in the back yard and belly rubs.
Bigger Than Our Dreams: One of the many things that brought us together when we started dating was a desire to have a family. When learning about adoption, we learned that having a family is bigger than our own dreams because it is also about helping a birth mom fulfill her dreams. Most importantly, it is about a child that will mean the world to all of us.
One Last Thank You: Thank you for reading our profile. We hope we were able to provide you with a feeling of who we are and what type of parents we would be for your child. We really do believe that we want exactly what you want; to be loving and attentive parents to a beautiful child for whom we will provide all the love, support and opportunities in our ability.
Please reach out to us if you’d like to know more. If not, we wish you the best of luck in your journey and hope you find the right connection you are looking for your child.
