Brad & Tim
Brad & Tim
Hello! We are Brad and Tim from Hermosa Beach, California. We are so thankful that you have chosen to take the time to learn more about us, and get to know who we are as a couple. Together, we have traveled the world, tackled home renovations, and created a life we look forward to sharing as a family. We have so much love for each other, and are excited to share that love by starting a family.
Family has always been a top priority for us, and we have dreamed of raising children together since we met, eight years ago. Our parents have taught us the value of creating lasting memories, and strengthening relationships with our chosen family of friends. We cannot begin to understand the courageous decision you are making, but we are filled with gratitude and will dedicate our lives to creating the best life for your child.
Getting To Know Us: On our first date we both felt we were filling someone else’s shoes. Well, that’s what happens when you go bowling, you have to rent a stranger’s shoes. Who knew “Timtastic” and “Bradtacular,” the bowling names we gave each other, would follow us from the lanes through our life together?
From there, our relationship became a blur of exploring the world, house projects, crafts, glue guns, glitter, and a lot of love, with a little bit of magic. It was exciting for both of us to share adventures with another person who loved the same, sometimes silly, idea of what was fun. Throughout the years together, it seemed that no matter where we were or what we were doing, we could find the fun and humor in anything. But lets be honest, it was our desire to eat that kept pulling us to travel to new destinations.
In 2017, after having been together for six years, we decided to take our second adventure to France to explore, and of course, sample the food. On our last day in Paris, we decided to have a picnic at the base of the Eiffel Tower, when a couple with a nice camera sat down next to us. Brad asked if they would mind to take a photo for us, and as they got the camera ready, he got down on one knee to ask for Tim’s hand in marriage. With surprise and tears of joy, Tim said, “yes.” After returning to our picnic, Tim asked if we could take a photo where he wasn’t crying. Brad asked the couple for one more photo, and turned around to find Tim on one knee, asking for his hand in marriage as well. Brad said, “yes” and to both their surprise, they had a double engagement in Paris on the same day.
A year later, we married in Long Beach, CA, surrounded by our family and friends. We are so lucky to have the amazing support and love from both of our families. From our first date, to our engagement, our wedding day, and now, starting a family, we have been so fortunate to have constant support throughout our entire journey.
Meet Tim: I grew up in Ontario, California, with two loving parents, Tim and Brigitte, and one awesome older sister, Thalia. As a child, I loved airplanes, maybe because we lived next to an airport or maybe because my mom was from Germany. Throughout my childhood and teen years, traveling to visit our German relatives became an adventure I always looked forward to and something I look forward to sharing with my family.
In high school, I was voted “most involved” by the high school yearbook because I was always trying something new. Right after high school, I wasn’t ready for college, so I went to Cosmetology School and started working as a hair stylist and then became a wig stylist for all the characters at Disneyland.
My love for airplanes never left me, and soon I applied to be a Flight Attendant. I love my job and I have been flying for almost fifteen years. Being a flight attendant, my schedule is very flexible. In fact, my job allowed me to go back to school full time and earn my bachelors degree in Communications.
My job inspires me. It enables me to travel and experience new places filled with culture and traditions. Being a Flight Attendant allows me to not only tell the people I love about my experiences, but to bring them along with me. Something I can’t wait to do with our future family.
About Tim, by Brad: From the moment I met “Timtastic,” I knew he would be the most amazing father. He has a magical way of finding humor in everything, the reason I fell in love with him. It takes a special person to turn the most trying parts of their life into something to laugh and learn from. His creativity, drive, and commitment to himself and family, inspire me to be better everyday. I am so proud to be his husband and raise children with him. He will undoubtedly teach them to dream big, believe in themselves, and most importantly, to laugh.
What Makes Tim Happy:
• The Golden Girls
• Cooking, Baking, and Eating!
• Making Brad laugh
• Reading Harry Potter
• Traveling to Germany and France
Meet Brad: I grew up in Hermosa Beach, a small town in Southern California that feels like vacation most of the year. I was lucky to become an older brother twice. First to my brother, Andy, born five years after me, and second to my sister, Jessica, adopted at the age of five. While in middle school, my parents, Mike and Marla, renovated their house, building it from the foundation up, laying the groundwork for my interest in architecture. After high school graduation, I decided to pursue a degree in architecture.
Following my Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, I stayed to achieve my Masters in Business Administration.
Creativity always drove me to push further, eventually landing me at Disneyland as an architect for Walt Disney Imagineering. I love that Disney is family oriented, and supports me starting a family by making my job flexible. My career inspires me to push the limits of architecture to create magical experiences for families all over the world. I can’t wait to share those experiences with our future family.
About Brad, by Tim: “Bradtacular” is the person I aspire to be. He’s smart, creative, and full of love. I can see him teaching our future child how to cook, bake, change the car oil, build something for the house, or fix anything that is broken. Why? Because those are just some of the things he’s taught me. I love my husband because it doesn’t matter if you’re coloring inside the lines or outside the lines, to him, it only matters that you’re coloring. He’s going to be a great father because he not only will make a learning experience an inspirational one, he’ll make every experience a memorable one filled with value and love.
What Makes Brad Happy:
• A good craft project
• Cooking and Baking
• Laughing at Tim
• Camping and Boating
• Working on home renovations
Our Village: Tim’s parents live in Ontario, CA, a short distance from our home. Weekends are often spent eating his dad’s famous barbecue and his mom’s famous cabbage salad. Tim’s sister, his two nephews, Richard and Michael, and his niece, Selena, often join us for a game of cards, or to relax by the pool.
Brad’s parents, brother, sister, and extended family have all stayed close to Hermosa Beach, CA. In fact, his brother is our next-door neighbor. His parents, both retired are excited to meet their first grandchild.
Five Family Traditions:
• Annual Summer Camping Trip
• Thanksgiving Brunch at our House
• Family Card Games
• 4th of July Pie Eating Contest
• Christmas Eve Gatherings
Our Beach Home: We’ve been so lucky to call Hermosa Beach, CA home for the past six years. With Brad’s architectural vision, and both of our hard work, we have turned our beach bungalow into our dream home. Living in a small town, with our home only three blocks from the beach, we often run into our friends, family, and neighbors riding bikes, eating at local restaurants, or walking the pier. The free concerts and movies shown on the beach every summer is our favorite time of the year! Living near L.A. gives us the opportunity to make memories at the beach, mountains, and desert but best of all, because of our careers, we get to share the perks of Disneyland and travel with our future family.
Our Hopes and Dreams: Raising a family together has been a dream of ours since early in our relationship. Up until this point, we have only been able to share the wonder of travel, the inspiration and creativity of imagination, and a deep love between each other. We are excited to share our love, and can’t wait to see, hear, and experience the magic of our families, the world we have to offer, and the adventure we have to give through the eyes of our child.
We Thank You: We have prepared our entire lives to be parents, and are excited to have this dream made a reality if chosen by you. We look forward to getting to know you and continuing this conversation. Thank you for considering us in this courageous decision, we are filled with gratitude.
