Brooke and Marisa
Dear Birth Mother
We are Brooke & Marisa. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We respect you so much for making this brave and compassionate choice and are grateful you are considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We promise to dedicate our lives to loving your baby. There is nothing that means more to us than becoming parents. Thank you for giving us that option.
When we imagine holding our future baby for the first time, we feel so much excitement, our hearts could burst. We both have so much passion for life, and so much love to share. We promise to devote our lives to your child. We will read to them, travel with them, nurture their identity, and make sure they always feel safe. We also promise to challenge them, and push them to be the best version of themselves.
We both came from incredibly accepting and supportive families who taught us how to be kind, gave us the tools to learn and succeed, and encouraged us to shoot for the stars. We promise to provide this kind of love and care to our children, and we can’t wait to watch them flourish.
About Us: We’re Brooke and Marisa. We live in sunny Los Angeles, California, with our hilariously adorable dog, Normandie, and our curious cat, Earl Grey. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us—we are so excited to start our family!
We met, like so many couples do, at work! We are both lawyers, and we represent children in the justice system. We both believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed, and to do that, some kids need the support of an attorney!
We love to host our friends and family, and our door is pretty much always open to anyone who needs a meal or just wants to say hi. We love to cook, listen to music, experience all of the wonder California has to offer, do home improvement projects, watch movies, read, and, occasionally, go for a hike.
Because of COVID, our wedding plans were canceled and we decided to elope in Las Vegas and then drive to Zion National Park. Our families were extremely supportive of our decision. In fact, our families have always supported us, and have always encouraged us to choose the path that is right for us. Getting married was one of the best things to happen in our lives. Now we are ready to start our family!
Our Friends Say We Are…
- Passionate about making the world a better place
- That we’re the fun aunties (life of the party)
- Caring and loyal
Hello, I’m Brooke: Originally an East Coaster, I have made California home for nearly 20 years. I grew up in an active, outdoorsy, adventurous family in Maine. My parents gave us plenty of room to discover, learn and pursue our passions. I am the oldest of three kids, and took my big sister role very seriously!
I love to read, travel, try new foods, explore LA and connect with friends. I have a phenomenal group of friends – many of whom I have had for 25+ years – who feel like family. Watching many of my friends become parents has been a real joy of my life, and I am excited to join them! I can’t wait to take our kid on adventures great and small, such as neighborhood walks, hikes in Griffith Park, to our family and friends homes, to museums, the bookstores and libraries, to new taco shops and pizza places – really, anywhere! Having our child feel supported and safe enough to be independent is really important to me, and one of the most valuable things my parents taught me – that they were in my corner every step of the way and that it was okay to take risks!
More About Brooke by Marisa: Brooke is the rock of our family. She is dependable, trustworthy, loyal, and loving. She balances me, holds me accountable, and lifts me up when I need a boost.
Brooke is going to be an amazing mother. She will impact on our child a sense of responsibility, right and wrong, and reliability. I know she will be the mom who brings orange slices to our child’s sports games, and the one who will hold our child’s hand at the dentist. I know she will read to our child, and be patient with them.

Hi! I’m Marisa: I’m originally from the city of brotherly love—Philadelphia, PA! I have a big, loving, Italian family on the east coast, including lots of aunts and uncles and cousins and babies! I also grew up with two brothers (one is a twin!), two sisters, two mothers, and two fathers. My parents got divorced when my brother and I were 2 years old, but both of my parents remarried wonderful people, and together, the four of them raised our village. I was so lucky to have the love and support of all four parents, and though it wasn’t traditional, it worked for us! Because of my loving family background, I’ve always wanted to be a mother!
When I’m not working, I’m either cooking or playing music. I love to cook pasta and pizza (we got a pizza oven as a wedding gift and it’s amazing!). I also play guitar and piano, and sing! I taught myself how to play and write music when I was a kid, and I never stopped. I love all kinds of music, and it’s rare to find me doing anything without music in the background.
More About Marisa by Brooke: There is no one like Marisa! Her smile is the first thing you notice about her, and it lights up the room no matter where she is. Every person in Marisa’s orbit – big and small – feels her warmth, her energy, her fun and her caring. She creates a safe space for our family and I am grateful for her love and understanding.
Marisa will be an energetic, patient and phenomenal mom. She will be as excited about working on homework lessons as she will be infusing our life with music, food, and nurturing our child’s passions and talents.

We have a huge, diverse community of friends and family, all across the world. Brooke has two brothers—Parker, who lives with his wife and 5-year-old Son, Oak, in Berlin. Brooke’s other brother, Baylor, lives in Chile and has a special child in his life, named Bodhi! Marisa’s twin brother, Gus, lives in New Jersey with his wife (who is pregnant again!) and their 4-year-old son, Mason. Marisa’s older sister, Katlin has two daughters and two sons! They all live in Philadelphia, but we see them every time we go home. Our child will definitely have lots of cousins!
Our Friends: We also have friends all over the United States—California, Wyoming, Maine, Washington D.C., Boston, and many more! Most of our friends have kids, and we spend time with them as often as possible.
In particular, we love to spend time with our friends and their families in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. After we got married in Las Vegas, we went to Jackson Hole to celebrate our marriage. Brooke’s friends threw us an incredible party, and it was one of the most memorable days of our lives!
Traits We Value in Family & Friends:
- Willingness to listen
- Joie de Vivre
Where We Call Home
We live in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. LA is a really, really big city, and Koreatown (Or K-town, as we like to call it) is right in the middle of it! We are close to parks, schools, grocery stores and farmers markets, and restaurants. We could hop in the car, and after 30 minutes, be at the beach or in the mountains. We love living in LA, and think it’s a great place to raise a family! Even though it’s called Koreatown, our neighborhood is extremely diverse. Our next-door neighbors on one side are Mexican, and run a day care. On the other side is a kind, older Filipino couple with lots of grandchildren. Our house is bright and sunny, warm, and welcoming, and we love to spend time at home.
Our Furry Friends: We love our pets a lot, and they are with us all the time.
We have one cat, named Earl Grey, who Marisa rescued when she lived in New Orleans. He’s 11 years old and is very friendly and loving. Sometimes he hides when we have company, but once he’s comfortable, you’ll probably find him hanging out in the windowsill, or purring and rubbing up against your leg.
Our dog, Normandie, is an adorable mix of Chihuahua, dachshund, and shih tzu—does it get any cuter?!? We rescued Norm in January, 2019, and since then, we’ve been inseparable! Normandie, or Norm, for short, loves walks, treats, playing, and relaxing in the sun. He is great with kids, and we know he is going to love any addition to our family.
In Closing – Our Heartfelt Thanks: Again, we want to thank you for taking the time to get to know us, and for considering us as adoptive parents. We cannot imagine how hard this decision is for you, and we are in awe of your strength and compassion.
It is people like you who make it possible for people like us to be parents—we literally could not have a family without you! We honor and appreciate you for that. We promise to give your baby a beautiful life, filled with happiness, opportunity, and love.
