Hi there! We are Chris and Shivani from Sacramento, California. We are so happy you’ve given us a look.

At the very foundation of our marriage, we consider ourselves each other’s best friend. We lean on each other for support when things get tough, and enjoy sharing funny memes all day long that keeps each other smiling and laughing. We strive to keep harmony knowing that life is full of stumbling blocks until we reach the destination we seek, and through our jobs providing healthcare and healing, we know how important it is to stay humble, be kind, have fun, and enjoy the small things. We hope you enjoy learning about us, and hope you are as excited to build a connection with us as we are with you!

We’re college sweethearts who met in Astronomy class on the very first day of freshman year. We spent the first few months shyly smiling at each other and silently hoping one of us would gain the courage to say hello. As the semester ended, there was an unmistakable but silent bond that was built. When the new semester started, fate made sure we had another class together. The smile we gave each other was all but dreamy, and we both thought is this meant to be?! At the end of class, finally, after four months of sweet smiles and stealing glances, we actually said hi to each other and Chris walked Shivani to her next class-but not without asking her to Thai food and the Avatar movie! The rest of the days and years following that date night, you could say, was all in the stars- right from the beginning! Funny enough, Shivani thought she was going to Taco Bell instead of Thai when they first arrived in the parking lot! Since then, Chris makes sure to include both options on date night!

We have always had adoption in our hearts. When we told our family we were eager to begin the process, it was Shivani’s mother who gave us loving advice by saying “don’t let life’s speed bumps create inaction for the things you want most.” After several miscarriages, we started having more and more conversations about how much we look forward to so many things such as: reading with our child at bedtime, creating holiday traditions, going to pancake breakfast at the firehouse, having fun adventures, and seeing life through our child’s eyes. Once we started the adoption process, the excitement has just continued to build. With the support of each other and our families- especially Chris’s adopted cousins- we knew we couldn’t be more thrilled and supported to create a nurturing, playful, loving and supportive home for our child. We can’t wait to see each other as a parent!

We are animal lovers and it is a dream to one day own property with farm animals, including a pair of donkeys named Hank and Maisy for Shivani. We would love to see more of the world and are excitedly planning a trip to Italy to see where Chris's family roots lie. Some of the places on our travel bucket list include: Maldives, Iceland, Ireland and Thailand. Shivani traveled a lot as a young child and we hope to show our child much of the world with us. Chris is a disc golfer and will be competing in his first tournament in early 2023. We're both big fans of The Office, and you'll often find us watching Jim or Pam and saying "that's so you!" Shivani loves to tend to her garden, craft, and has recently started her own mental health company. At our core, we believe in love, communication, trust, empathy and support. We value each others time and opinion, making sure that we keep an open and honest dialogue between us. We hope to have a Beauty and The Beast style library complete with a fireplace and cozy chairs. We love food and enjoy experimenting with new recipes, especially ones that Chris can make for firehouse dinners when he is on duty.

Shivani is a problem solver and takes on the problems of the ones she loves like they’re her own without a second thought. She is confident but humble and isn’t afraid to admit when she is wrong. She has endless patience for her clients, husband, friends, family, etc. She’s nurturing and literally takes people under her wing and makes them a part of her friend family. She checks on people, does thoughtful things when they are sick or going through a rough time, and does simple things to let them know she’s thinking about them. She has a way of brightening someone’s life and instantly makes someone feel good to their core. She is the mother hen of this family that her and Chris have made that I am now so thankful to be a part of!

Chris is the best man I know. He is never short on hugs and is a truly genuine person. He will be the first one to make you feel cared for and loved. He treats everyone with respect and kindness, and balances firefighting with his many hobbies including disc golf, working out, spending time with friends, and experimenting with new recipes. It doesn’t matter if someone calls 911 at 1p or 1a, he will always treat everyone with respect and care. Chris can put a smile on your face, give you a helpful life lesson, give you an oil change, and leave you feeling like you matter all in a matter of minutes. I love how playful, creative and determined he is. For the 13 years we’ve been together, he has always made sure to find ways to make me feel loved and cherished. He’s one of those people that friends and family call “simply the best,” and I couldn’t be more proud of the man he is. Chris has dreamed of being a father since early in our relationship, and to see the way he teaches, has fun with, and loves the children in his life gives me full confidence he will be an amazing dad!

We live in a safe and beautiful neighborhood is Sacramento.

We have amazing neighbors with little kids we have enjoyed watching grow up. We’ve created movie nights with neighbors where we put up a projector and everyone brings chairs and snacks. Our neighborhood really comes together for holidays events like Halloween and Christmas. We have a cute home with a large backyard that we enjoy sitting in to catch up or watching Sarge chase the sprinkler. We feel we’re in a really great location near good schools, good people, and good activities. We are a short drive to the ocean or the snow, and have made many road trips to Disneyland, especially when the new Star Wars area opened! We live near a stadium that frequently hosts sporting events like basketball and baseball, as well as big name people for concerts or comedy shows, so we like to catch a game or show on occasion. Chris puts it perfectly: “We’re in the best spot to start a morning snowboarding and ending it surfing!”

Our ‘village’ is a combination of close friends and family, and we love being able to spend time together or just reach out one another in good times or bad.

Both of our families have accepted us into their fold as if we had always been there! Shivani’s parents have been huge supporters in our life. Chris and Shivani’s dad will often get together to tinker with something or have a guys day out, while Shivani and her mother will go to get manicures. Chris has two cousins who are similar ages to us and are adopted. Chris’s aunt and uncle stand as Chris’s parents so we will often find ourselves reaching out to them for support, advice or gardening tips. Shivani and Chris’s aunt will often ‘spill the tea’ and gossip about a reality TV show they’ve seen together. We enjoy combining our families for day trips or play ‘schedule tetris’ to coordinate plans together to take Chris’s 3 year old Godson to the firestation to run around and play! We are incredibly biased, but we couldn’t be more grateful for the friends we have. We have been through thick and thin with them, and they have shown their love and dedication to our friendship. If you’ve seen Gilmore Girls, you’ll know we would love to grow a love and logic relationship like Lorelai has with Rory, and Lorelai has with Dean.

We value in others what we wish to be ourself.

We value honesty, communication, kindness, love, hard work, and transparency. We love being able to talk to people about their interests and their goals, and how we can be helpful in achieving those. We both grew up with parents who valued all of these things so it has been ingrained in us and we are able to use that to grow in both our marriage and careers.

Sarge is a certified service dog for individuals with PTSD. He enjoys providing cuddles and comfort therapy to those in need and especially enjoys being cuddled or dog piled by young children. Some of his favorite people are Shivani’s dad who was in the British Royal Air Force, and Chris’s sweet, curious and beautifully curly-haired Godson.

We love the idea of utilizing the 'love and logic' style of parenting. We have many positive memories from our childhood and want to share experiences such as travel, food, animals and learning new things. We dream our family life to be one full of activities, comforts, and overall excitement for the many things they will want to learn and accomplish. We look forward to fun days out doing things like walking through the neighborhood with hot cocoa and looking at Christmas lights, or dancing on the table while watching a Disney movie like Shivani's mother did with her.

We know this decision may not have been the easiest to make, and we are not only grateful, but admire your strength. We want you to know that if it is something that is important to you, we will make sure your child knows who the amazing person is that brought them into our lives. We want to promise you that we will raise your child with attention, nurture, support, care, health, love, and goofiness, and will make their needs a priority. Not only will we teach your child how to walk and talk, we will teach them how to succeed in life. We will provide a safe, loving and exciting life and if we speak to your heart, we would love to get to know you.
