Commodore and Kate
Dear Birth Mother
Hi there! We are Commodore and Kate from northern California. We are a very happy and fun loving couple with lots of love to give! We have dreamed of creating our family through adoption and cannot wait for our future child to join us on our adventures. We believe that the simplest things in life are often the best and most worthwhile, and that life is what you make of it!
Our story: We met through online dating in 2018, and our first date was at a wine bar in Vacaville. From the beginning, we knew we had something special. We made each other laugh, and never ran out of things to talk about. We were married in December 2019 in a small ceremony with only our parents present. We rented a limo and celebrated afterwards at a pizza parlor with a bunch of friends and family.
We want to let you know that we are sincerely grateful for your consideration and wish you the best in clarity and wisdom as you make your decision. Seriously…. you are awesome.
Commodore is a wild and free-spirited soul, and he makes friends with everyone he meets! He loves life with a passion and is unendingly optimistic. He is so funny and down-to-earth that people are always surprised to learn that he is a scientist that specializes in cancer research, as well as a chemistry professor at the local university. His students love him because they know he cares, and he manages to make learning fun. Science is his passion, and he believes in the power of education to change the world for the good.
Commodore grew up in California with his parents and two brothers. He spent a year of his childhood traveling with his family around the U.S. in a RV, and he spent ages 8-12 living with his family in the Philippines.
In his free time he loves the outdoors, hanging out with our dog Daisy, and wakeboarding as often as he can. Some highlights: He is extremely handy and can fix almost everything, extremely intelligent, caring, loves to cook, and loves kids!
Kate is calm and mellow, and has the perfect soothing cool peacefulness to match against Commodore’s fiery and passionate nature. She loves people and is a home health nurse, which she believes to be the best job in the world! She has had many of the same patients for years, and to her they are like family. She usually sees her patients in the morning and is able to work from home the rest of the day. Kate and Commodore’s flexible work schedules will allow for them to be home with their child, and not have to utilize daycare.
Kate grew up in California with her parents and two younger brothers. As a child she wanted to be a writer, and wrote books and poetry. She played soccer and softball, and spent summers swimming in her pool.
-Has played the piano since she was a small child
-Has respect for all living creatures and will not even squash a bug
-Lived in Guatemala for 8 months as an adult to volunteer and travel. She worked as a translator for volunteer groups, and still speaks some Spanish (though it’s a little rusty!)
Friends and Family
Friends are like family to us. We have a ton of great friends with different life stories and diverse backgrounds. Each friendship is a treasure, and we are grateful for the love and support that their friendships provide us. Our friends are all very excited to become “aunties” and “uncles”!
We are both very close to our families. We are very lucky to have both sets of our parents close by. They are an active part of our lives, and are very much looking forward to becoming grandparents!
Kate has two younger brothers, Andrew who lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and Michael who lives in San Jose, California. Kate and her brothers have regular zoom meetups with their parents where they can catch up and play games.
Commodore’s older brother Sal lives in Hawaii, and his younger brother Ace lives in Sweden. Traveling at least once a year to see each other is a way of life, sometimes meeting up in different countries to catch up and see the sights.
FUN FACT: We have hosted a Christmas party since the first year we met. Toasted bread and cheese dip, apple cider, playing the piano, and singing Christmas songs are all part of the evening’s festivities! We cannot wait to carry on this tradition as a family of three.
Our Home and Pets
We live in northern California between Sacramento and San Francisco. We are within a couple hours driving distance of both the beaches and the mountains. We love outdoor activities and taking advantage of what this area has to offer.
Our single story, 4-bedroom home has plenty of space to grow our family. The backyard has a pool and lots of flowers, fruit trees, and vegetable gardens. We are hoping to one day add a chicken coop to our yard as well!
Our neighborhood is safe, quiet, with lots of families with young kids. There is a park less than half a mile from our house, where we take Daisy every day for her walk.
Finally, life would not be the same without our two crazy cats, and one goofy dog! Gentle Ghost has a heart like gold and just wants to snuggle all day. Max is our explorer cat, who roams the neighborhood and says hi to all the neighbors. Daisy is our sweet dog, who just wants to be near us all day, sleep in the bay window, and go on walks. These are beloved family members and we can’t imagine life without them. They are quiet, calm, and great with kids!
