Hello from Gordon, Winston, and Calvin! Thank you so much for taking a moment to peek into our lives! We know this is a big decision and regardless of where your path takes you, we are in awe of the bravery and love you are showing your baby by considering adoption. When our son, Calvin, joined our lives through open adoption in 2019 it was the beginning of the realization of our lifelong dreams. We finally got to start our own family and become the loving, supportive, goofy (and sometimes embarrassing) dads we always wanted to be. We are eternally grateful for that opportunity, and it all started with someone like you! In the next few pages, we hope that our story brings a smile to your face. We are deeply humbled by the choice you are making and would love nothing more than to grow our family and provide a stable, caring, and fun-loving home for your baby.
We are excited for you to get to know us and hope that we might be able to get to know you as well!
We met in 2010 while participating in a week-long charity bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Side by side we rode for 550 miles, supporting each other through gritty challenges like flat tires, enormous hills, and all too sore muscles. And by the time we rolled into the finish line, something magical had happened, we’d fallen in love!
Over a decade later and many more miles on our bikes, our love has only grown. Together we have traveled around the world (literally!), performed in a high-flying cirque show, and rescued two amazing dogs. In 2014, eight months after a very special engagement (at Disneyland!) we tied the knot in a joyous wedding in front of all of our family and friends. And then in 2019, we continued to realize our dreams with the adoption of our son, Calvin.
We always wanted to have a big family and having Calvin in our lives has been the most fulfilling experience imaginable. Our little guy keeps us laughing and keeps the dogs on their toes! We love our roles as Daddy and Papa so much and we can’t wait to have a second child! As parents, we feel that it is our mission to teach Calvin everything we can about the world, but sometimes it feels like he is the one teaching us. Teaching us to be more open, more patient, and more loving than we ever thought possible!
I was born in Michigan and grew up in a small town in Tennessee. Because of this I always like to say that I have Northern values and Southern manners. While growing up, I really found my place in musical theater and loved to perform on stage more than anything else.
These days I get to work in entertainment as a television travel producer and have worked on popular shows like “The Amazing Race” and “The Bachelorette,” and even got the chance to work with Oprah!
My other passions include music, tennis, and baking. I truly feel that music, in any form, is an important part of everyday life. I am constantly creating playlists for every mood and season and love to wake up Calvin with some upbeat tunes that get his little feet dancing. I’ve played many sports in my life including rugby and power tumbling, but tennis is my absolute favorite. I learned to play in the past few years and can’t wait to compete in a tournament. And finally, I love to bake, everything from macrons to towers of choux pastry. I can't wait to pass on my secret recipes to our growing family!
I was born in New Jersey, but my family moved to Los Angeles soon after and that’s where I grew up. As a kid I was always interested in learning how things worked, and by the time I graduated high school I had become a full-blown geek. You know the kid who always had their hand up in class? That was me. These days, I work for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory where I can put my geek-dom to good use. I’m a software engineer and I’m really proud to be working on research that helps us better understand our planet and its changing climate.
I also grew up loving theater, dance, and gymnastics. I performed in shows all through my teenage years and really enjoyed the dance numbers the most. When Gordon and I met, we discovered a shared love of tumbling, theater, and Cirque Du Soleil. We found a nearby cirque school where we trained and performed together in an aerial double act. It was like a childhood dream come true!

First and foremost we love to travel! For our honeymoon, we went around the world in 28 days. It was a lot of fun and a lot of jet-lag! We’ve climbed volcanoes in Bali, surfed the waters of Australia, scuba dived in Bora Bora and had Christmas at the Moulin Rouge. But the thing we love most about travelling is the chance to experience other cultures, people, and food. We can’t wait to share these experiences with Calvin as he gets older and his younger sibling too!
At home, we like to explore the world in other ways. We both love animals and don’t pass up an opportunity to take Calvin to the zoo or aquarium. We also love theme parks! Universal Studios and Disneyland are both nearby and we’ve had the best time visiting both with Calvin and his best friends. In particular, we all love the Wizarding World at Universal. Gordon is a Slytherin. Winston is a Gryffindor. And Calvin is still awaiting his acceptance letter to Hogwarts!
Calvin is a very outgoing, playful, and loving boy. He has the brightest smile and never misses a chance to say hi to new people and tell them all about his day. He loves books, dancing, and above all, dressing up! Capes and Harry Potter robes are his favorite! He also has a very kind and loving heart and is quick to laugh and get you laughing too. Calvin is so excited about meeting his new sibling and can’t wait to be a big brother!
We have two dogs, Gambit and Cable (yes, we are X-Men fans!). We rescued Gambit when he was only a few months old and then Cable soon after. They are the sweetest best friends, and our best friends too. And as they’ve grown, they’ve also become loyal companions for Calvin. They love to give him wet puppy kisses and make him laugh so hard he rolls on the floor.
We recently made the move to a home in the Los Angeles suburbs. And we’re so happy we did! We live on a quiet cul-de-sac in a very family-friendly neighborhood. One of L.A.’s largest parks is only a few minutes away and we are just a short drive from all the beaches, museums, and theaters that L.A. has to offer.
We love the holidays and we love food, so naturally we love Thanksgiving! For the last 10 years, we have hosted and cooked Thanksgiving. It’s one of our favorite holidays!
Winston comes from a very close knit and loving family who are very much a part of his everyday life. He has three sisters who are his best friends and who make wonderful aunties (and babysitters!). His youngest sister lives in D.C., but the rest of his family reside in L.A. and we see them often for family get-togethers and play dates with his nephews and niece. Winston also has a very large extended family and every five years or so, hundreds of them come together from across the U.S. for a big family reunion. Everyone is so excited to meet the new members of our growing family at the next big reunion!
Gordon also comes from a very loving and supportive family. Although they are spread across the country in Northern California, Massachusetts, Maryland, Tennessee, and Michigan we see them a few times a year and Zoom with them often. Every other Christmas, we travel to Tennessee to spend the holiday with Gordon’s family at his parents’ house. Our last trip was extra special as everyone, including Calvin’s Tennessee cousins, finally got a chance to meet and play with the newest member of the family.
As adoptive parents, we don’t believe that we can ever take your place in your baby’s life. Although we’d love for you to remain in your child’s life, we understand that it’s not always possible.
No matter what, we think it’s important that your child understand where he or she comes from and the selflessness that you’ve shown. And if we are the ones to raise your baby, we promise to provide a loving, stable and safe home, to show what it means to love and be loved, to share in the joy of family and friends, and to foster an environment of learning and self-expression where your child can grow up to be whoever they wish to be.
Thank you so much for letting us share this bit of our lives with you! We know this is probably a very uncertain time, and we hope that our story has resonated with you in some way. We couldn’t be more excited about bringing another child into our lives, and hope that you are interested in taking the next step to get to know us better!
