Jeana and Darrin

Dear Birth Mother

We are Jeana and Darrin from Windsor, California! We are so thankful for you and are amazed at your strength and courage to move forward in this journey. Thank you for taking the time to read through our profile and considering us as adoptive parents. In our home, you will always be referred to as strong and selfless.

Adoption has a special place in our hearts, as Darrin was adopted as a newborn, and Jeana has worked with adopted children for over 18 years. As a married couple who don’t currently have any children, we want you to know that we will love your child unconditionally, if given the opportunity. We know you want the best for your child and hope that our profile provides you with insight into the kind of loving, secure and fun family we will be.

Our Story told by Jeana: We met while we were in college. I was in grad school and Darrin worked at the campus bookstore.  Although we were on the same campus, we actually met online. My college roommate and I made a dare: that we would each message the top two guys that Myspace said was a perfect match. Darrin was my top pick, and he actually messaged back! We met at a local Starbucks and have been together ever since. Two years later, Darrin proposed to me where we had our first official date (hiking near the ocean.) He had hidden a real diamond engagement ring in a cracker jack box! Ten months later we were married at an outdoor venue, surrounded by friends and family, along with a taco buffet and a line dancing DJ!

When we aren’t working, you can find us playing fetch or hiking with our golden retriever, Kona. We enjoy spending time with friends, camping in our 5th wheel and traveling.

As we approach our 10-year wedding anniversary, we know we are ready to share our lives with a baby because we:

  • Love to laugh.
  • Believe in patience and kindness.
  • Have a positive outlook on life.

Dear Birth Mother

About Darin

About Darrin, by Darrin: I grew up in Sonoma County, California with my parents and older brother. Every summer I traveled with my grandparents in their travel trailer exploring nature up close, something I still do as often as I can.

After earning my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, I decided to help my father run his insurance agency because I wanted more time and flexibility to be with my family. Now I own an agency which allows me to work from home often.

As a volunteer for the local Search and Rescue Organization, I specialize in skills such as medical, tracking and technical rope rescue. In my free time, I enjoy playing fetch with my dog, running, playing table tennis and playing on local basketball/softball teams. If we are blessed to have a child, I look forward to sharing with them our love for the outdoors and nature.

More About Darrin by Jeana: Darrin is the most honest and caring person I know. He is always the guy that lends a hand. His compassion for others, excitement to explore the world and enjoyment of “the little things” in life makes every moment enjoyable.

I am always amazed at how comfortable he is with kids of any age, from infants to high schoolers. Kids love him and so do all the dogs in the neighborhood! Darrin will be a great father because he is patient, kind & always ready to play!

Darrin has this calmness about him that, even when I feel like everything is falling apart, he looks at me and I instantly feel better. Maybe it’s the silly dance moves he does to break silence, or the problem-solving approach he brings to every situation. In his words: “There is no such thing as “I can’t” you just have to try!”

About Jeana

About Jeana, by Jeana: I grew up in Vacaville, California as an only child, but have always loved spending time with children from an early age. As soon as I was old enough, I volunteered in my church nursery, babysat the kids in my neighborhood and worked as an overnight summer camp counselor for children in second grade through high school.

I received my bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Human Development and my master’s degree in Education and Child Psychology. I am lucky to have a career I love, working with children, families and teachers! I have been a Preschool Director, Parent Educator and Children’s Book Author. Now I work with infants and toddlers with special needs. I am so blessed to spend every day helping children of all abilities learn they are perfect just the way they are.

Once I become a mom, I plan to stay home for the first six months. I personally know the owners of three amazing daycares/preschools in the county where our child would attend. I’m excited to play, laugh, teach and explore the world with a child of my own.

More About Jeana by Darrin: Jeana is the most caring and loving person I know. At our wedding, one of her bridesmaids said, “Jeana cares so much about living things. When we were young, she moved the snails and earthworms off of the sidewalk, back into the dirt, so they wouldn’t be harmed.” While that sentiment was a small thing, it is Jeana’s actions that show big results in the lives of the people around her.

I know she has positively blessed hundreds of children and families lives throughout her career by the number of people that still call her a friend and seek her guidance long after their professional relationship has ended. Any child would be blessed to call Jeana her mom, as I am to call her my wife. She is sensible, energetic and finds the positive in every situation. Jeana will be a great mother because of her big heart and how she lives life to the fullest.

About Jeana

Family and Friends

Family means a great deal to us, and we see them as often as possible.

Darrin’s Family – My dad, John, lives two blocks away, right next door to my 92-year-old grandma, Annie. We walk over to their homes on Friday’s for Taco night (my grandma cooks amazing tacos!) Sadly, my mom passed away a year ago. My brother Jeff is married and has three boys (ages 14, 13 and 10). Jeff and his family live in Denver, Colorado. My dad loves hiking with me in any of the 52 beautiful county parks near our home and can’t wait to welcome another grandchild into the family.

My cousins all live an hour away from us. Each are married and have children AND they also have 5th wheels. We go on cousin camping trips every year where we hike, fish, swim and skip rocks in the water.

Jeana’s Family – My parents, Jean and Jim, live an hour and a half away, but are going to be here ALL THE TIME when there is a baby around! My mom has been working for the school district for the past 25 years and loves being around children. She taught me the importance of a childhood filled with less technology and more playing! My parents have a cabin about three hours from our home, which is on 3 acres of beautiful pine forest land where Kona (our golden retriever) loves to run around and watch the deer, turkeys and squirrels scanter about! For Christmas, we go to my aunt’s house where there is karaoke, corn hole tournaments, cake decorating, crafts and LOTS of food!

Friends – We are so lucky to have amazing friends who we have known for over 10 years. We get together as often as we can. Most have young children of their own who can’t wait to have another playmate! Since we live in the same area that we graduated college from, we have built an amazing connection with the local community, and have mentors of all ages that we like to spend time with.

Our Home and Community

We live in a two story, three bedroom, two and a half bath house on the corner of a cul-de-sac in Sonoma County, California! Our backyard has grass, a garden and has plenty of space to ride a tricycle. Our neighborhood is filled with children who are always riding bikes with their family and our school district is the best in our county. We can’t forget our neighbor who has won the “most decorated house in the town” for Christmas!

Children are the center of our community. There are two parks within walking distance from our home and there are endless children’s events that happen through our local Community Center. Spring Lake Park, about 20 minutes from our home, has pony rides, a small train and a petting farm in the summer. They also have paddle boats and ducks to feed! During the summers we walk to Tuesday movie nights and Thursday night concerts on our town green. Every Christmas the Snoopy Christmas Tree Grove is set up for everyone to see, along with snow machines and carolers.

We LOVE this area because it is surrounded by the ocean, redwood trees, vineyards and is only three hours away from gorgeous Lake Tahoe (if we want to visit snow). We enjoy taking our RV to the ocean to listen to the waves and watch the whales migrate in the spring.

Meet Our Dog Kona: Kona, our 11-year-old golden retriever, is currently the center of the household! Some say she is spoiled, but every dog needs an avocado facial when they go to the groomer right? Kona loves to play in her doggy sandbox, lay down in her puppy pool and block soccer balls that are kicked around in the backyard. She has been with us since she was 10 weeks old and is always our source of calmness and cuddles. She loves to play and has always been very sweet when introduced to babies. She will make a great fur companion to your child!

In Closing: Thank you for considering us to parent your beautiful child. Your selfless and courageous choice will always be a blessing. Whomever you decide to parent your beautiful baby will be so lucky to receive your amazing gift.

We believe that every child is unique and special. Our mission is to help our future child enjoy every second of this life. We will strive to help your baby:

  • Laugh every day.
  • Explore the world.
  • Experience life’s precious moments.
  • Receive unconditional love from family.
  • Pursue their unique interests.
  • Understand forgiveness and compassion.
  • Learn about God’s grace and undying love for all.
