Jeff & Steve
Hello! We are Jeff and Steve from CA!
Dear Birthparent: We are very grateful that you are considering us and our home as a place for your baby to grow and thrive. As you learn about us, we hope you will feel the love we have for each other and how excited we are to become dads.
We have always dreamed of having a family. After focusing on our relationship and our careers, the time is right for us to become parents. We have so much love to give, and we believe we can make a difference in a child’s life. We understand you have an important choice to make, and we feel honored to be able to share our story with you.
Our Story, So Far: A mutual friend introduced us on Steve’s birthday in 1998, and it was love at first sight. The first night we met we went out for coffee and talked for hours. From that moment we were inseparable! It wasn’t long before we blended our lives, making our home near the beach in Orange County, California.
We were married in 2014. It was the most incredible day of our lives, surrounded by the people we love. We have shared so much over the years and have grown both as individuals and as a couple. We are very excited to share our life with your child and provide a nurturing and happy home.
About Us: We have been together for almost 20 years. We value education and will be involved in your child’s learning at school and home. We exercise regularly and practice healthy eating habits. We enjoy nature and believe in protecting the environment. We love adventure and have visited 20 states, 56 countries, and all seven continents together.
We believe in hugs and saying I love you to the people we love. We believe in open and honest communication. We believe in exploring and trying new things. We believe in laughing and having fun. We believe in eating dinner together every night.
About Steve: I grew up in Long Beach, California, with my parents and older sister. As a boy, I was active in Scouts, and I have great memories of camping all over the western US. In high school, I was on the swim team, I studied abroad in Japan and I played the saxophone for fun.
I attended college in Los Angeles and studied economics and international relations. I joined a fraternity and the marching band and was on the rowing team. I then earned a master’s degree in business administration. I met Jeff a few days after finishing graduate school and it was the beginning of the rest of my life.
I currently manage the real estate division for a large city in Orange County. My work provides a flexible schedule and offers six months of leave to care for a child after adoption. My work also offers on site childcare for newborns through preschool.
Steve Through Jeff’s Eyes: The kindness I saw in Steve’s eyes when we first met made me realize that he was the one I would spend the rest of my life with. Steve has always had a love for children and his empathy and generosity will make him a wonderful father.
About Jeff: I grew up with a very close-knit family in a small community north of Los Angeles, California. I loved spending time with my grandparents and my aunts and uncles, who all helped raised me. I loved school from a very early age, and couldn’t wait to go to college. I was an avid reader and I loved to play golf and water ski in the summer and snow ski in the winter.
I attended college in Santa Barbara and studied pharmacology and then fulfilled my dream by graduating as a doctor of pharmacy. I moved to Orange County after college, and have worked there ever since as a pharmacist. I currently work for a major health plan and frequently work from my home office, which provides me with a great opportunity to participate daily with a growing child. I have a flexible work schedule, and my boss is a mom to two adopted children.
Jeff Through Steve’s Eyes: Jeff is strong, compassionate, loving, intelligent, and honest. He is thoughtful, dependable, and true to his word. All the things I love about him are what will make him such a great father. We have built a wonderful life together and I can’t wait to see him as a dad.
Our Village of Family & Friends
Steve’s parents live 20 minutes away and are retired. Steve’s sister and her family live 25 minutes away. Being so close, we see each other often for family dinners or just to stop by and say hi.
Jeff’s parents live in Oregon and are also retired. Jeff is an only child but has five cousins, who in turn have eleven children. We try to visit twice a year and there is never a dull moment with Jeff’s parents or extended family!
We have a close group of friends and we love to spend time with them at each other’s homes, on trips, at sporting events, or at the beach. Many of our friends have kids and we cannot wait to have play dates. Our friends are important to us and we consider them to be an extension of our family.
Should you place your child with us, he or she will be surrounded by endless amounts of support a love from our family and friends as they seek their own personal passions in life.
Adoption is close to our hearts for several reasons: Jeff was adopted by his dad when he was a young boy. Adoption gave Jeff opportunities and experiences he might never have had otherwise, and now he has a strong desire to share what he was given.
One of Steve’s uncles, Jeremy, was adopted. Steve’s lifelong best friend, Keith, was also adopted. Both Jeremy and Keith have been significant influences in Steve’s life, and they were only in his life because of adoption.
Our Home and Closing Thoughts
We live in a beautiful and safe coastal city in Southern California. Our home is a two-minute walk to a neighborhood park and an easy ten-minute walk to the beach. We love to be active and outdoors and there is always something to do near our house, like a year-round farmers’ market, street festivals, volleyball tournaments, surfing competitions, and dog surfing competitions!
We have a small backyard where Steve enjoys gardening. Several years ago a hummingbird colony made our backyard home and so far we have been thrilled to watch seven babies hatch and grow up. Another area of our garden is dedicated to monarch butterflies. Our home is on their migration route, and Steve’s dad helped us create a resting stop. Sometimes we have had over 20 butterflies in our little garden at the same time!
Our home away from home and favorite getaway place is our family beach house on the California Central Coast.
Meet Buster, Our Kitty: We rescued Buster 14 years ago through a family that was unable to keep him, and we are so thankful we did. He has the sweetest temperament, he’s very social, and he fills our home with joy.
