Sending you a warm hello from Southern California! We are Jessika and Sky. We admire how incredibly strong, selfless, and brave you are to choose adoption. We feel that this is the most important letter we will ever write, and we are honored that you have chosen to read more about us.

We feel strongly about starting our family through adoption, and we’ve always known that families don’t need to be biological to have a deep love and connection.

Jessika was a couple weeks old when she was adopted. Her parents had prayed for a girl for several months, and were over the moon when they received the call that their baby girl had been born. Jessika is looking forward to sharing this special connection with her future child someday.

We are so excited to start this journey and look forward to getting to know more about you!

At a high school in Orange County, Jessika (the sweet band nerd) and Sky (the hacky-sack-playing goofball) met during 3rd period basketball class. We fell hard for each other and started dating the following summer. We spent most of our dates at Disneyland where we wore Mickey and Minnie ears, went on all the “fast” rides, and watched the fireworks. About five years later we got engaged at the Disneyland hotel rose garden, and in 2009, we had a Disney-themed wedding.

We love taking advantage of everything that Southern California has to offer: bonfires at the beach, stargazing in the clear night sky, walking the trails, going to theme parks, eating at new restaurants, admiring the views of the mountain ranges from our home, and more. We can’t wait to share all of this with our future child.

Sky is the life of the party. People naturally gravitate towards him, because he never runs out of stories to share and makes people laugh so hard that their sides hurt. One of Sky’s greatest gifts is that he can easily strike up a conversation with someone and can talk with them like they’ve been friends for years. He is well loved and has an infectious personality.

What I admire most about Sky is his generosity. He always wants what is best for his friends and family, and will do anything to help them achieve their dreams.

I know Sky will be a fantastic father. He is a great listener, the go-to guy for advice, and has an unlimited number of dad jokes to share. Sky has lots of energy and loves running around and being goofy.

Sky is a retired Navy veteran, and now works at home as an animator for the film industry. Though he can’t say what titles he’s animated, he is pleased to announce that he has worked on some Disney and Netflix films. We can’t wait to watch these movies with our future child.

Jessika is the most thoughtful and generous person I know. She once led me on a scavenger hunt around the city for my birthday, so I know that she’ll have amazing ideas for our future children’s birthdays and other special events. She is also the go-to person for advice for me and her friends.

What I admire most about Jessika is that she is always the first to volunteer to help and the last to leave. She has been there for all of her friends. She keeps me optimistic when I am feeling down and reassures me that things will always be alright.

We love laughing together, which is perfect because she has the most gorgeous smile. She is patient with all the kids in our lives and really listens to them when they talk to her. I can’t imagine a better person to be a mother to our kids.

Jessika is a Senior writer for a software company and authors user guides. She works from home and will be able to spend quality time with our future child.

We live in an up-and-coming city surrounded by gorgeous mountain ranges. We spend most of our time in the great room and our outdoor oasis. Our nursery is also one of our favorite spots – we walk into the nursery every day and imagine reading, laughing, and playing with our future child.

Directly behind our house is a K-12 charter school, known for its academic excellence and sports programs, that we plan on enrolling our future child into.

Our neighborhood includes many areas for outdoor activities, such as green areas, playgrounds, sports parks, and a pool. Across the street from our home is an outdoor marketplace that we often go to for shopping and eating.

What we love about our city are all the different programs they offer for the youth of the community, such as gymnastics, soccer, rock climbing and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) courses. We look forward to helping our future child find their passion and seeing how they develop in these activities.

We rescued our cat, Laker, in April 2009. Although she’s a senior, she still loves to cuddle and play with string. In September 2020, we rescued our dog, Enzo. He was named after Enzo Ferrari because he is all speed, no breaks! He loves to talk and play.

Both of our families have experienced adoption. Jessika’s parents were foster parents, so there was always a baby in the home. Their last foster baby happens to be Jessika’s now brother. Jessika also has three aunts and one nephew who are adopted. Lastly, her best friend is an adoptee.

About 40 years ago, one of Sky’s uncles placed his child for adoption. In 2018, Sky was contacted by a woman who was a potential 1st cousin match on Ancestry.com. She turned out to be the child who was placed for adoption, and she was happily reunited with her birth father.

Most of Jessika’s family lives in Southern California. We get together at least once a month for a movie, lunch, or swimming at Jessika’s parents’ house.

Lastly, several of our friends who live nearby have recently started their families, so we are looking forward to having many play dates together!

Though Jessika has never met her birth mother, she still feels a special connection with her. Her birth mother is her hero – she gave Jessika life and placed her with a loving family. For that, Jessika will always be grateful.
