Jon & Lizz
Lizz & Jon from San Diego
Dear Birth Mother: We have the utmost respect for you and your decision. We are so grateful and honored that you are reading our story. We can’t begin to imagine how difficult this must be for you. Your decision to give your child a chance at life is the absolute most loving thing you could ever do.
In our house, you will be described as a brave and selfless woman. We are happy to communicate with you throughout the child’s life, and will share whatever information you allow. We will always respect your wishes regarding communication and hope to have a wonderful relationship with you, if that is what you choose.
When we were trying to start a family we didn’t imagine that this would be our path but, we know now that this is right for us. We are so excited to start this journey. We promise to always show your child love, trust, and respect, and hope you rest assured that your child will know that your unconditional love and courage is what led you to choosing adoption.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us we look forward to getting to know more about you as well.
Our Love Story: We met at work 13 years ago while Lizz was going to college in Long Beach, CA. We became fast friends and always loved hanging out with each other. After graduation, Lizz moved back to her home in San Diego. 7 years later we reconnected when Lizz was in Long Beach for a work event. We have been together ever since!
We’ve been happily married for over 2 years and are so ready to grow our family. We tried to start our family naturally and went through years of unsuccessful attempts and heartbreak. We didn’t know then what we know now, that adoption was the right path for us. We couldn’t be more sure that we are exactly where we are supposed to be.
Fun Facts About Us:
• We live minutes from the beach and an hour from the mountains.
• We love sports! We go to Padres games and Dodgers games as much as possible. During football season we can be found rooting for our favorite teams (49ers for Jon, Chargers for Lizz).
• We love to be outdoors – Weekend camping trips, walks around Balboa park or biking the boardwalk.
• Family time is key. We spend a lot of time with our family and friends, including Sunday brunch at grandpa’s house.
Meet Jon, by Lizz
Jon is my best friend. He is hilarious, smart, kind and protective. He is an amazing father to his 16 year old son, Dominic and he is a great husband! Jon’s main focus is to take care of the people he loves and he does a great job at it.
Jon is calm and funny. While I tend to be more of a worrier he has a way of taking any situation and presenting it to me in a way, usually poking fun at my worrying, that makes it easier to handle. He can make anything fun. I know that when we raise our future children they will experience a man that will protect them, love them, help them work through any situation and make them laugh every single day. I can’t wait to become a parent with Jon by my side.
Jon is a General Manager at a Bar & Restaurant in Old Town, CA. He really enjoys working with his team of employees and loves the challenge of working in an environment that is different every day.
We are a loving family. We want to provide a home for a child that is full of love, positivity and stability. We will set boundaries that teach responsibility, we will laugh loudly, and we will hug every single day.
Meet Lizz, by Jon
Lizz is silly and a lot of fun! She loves to laugh, joke around, and make up songs that she will sing at the top of her lungs. She gets that from her dad who refused to have a radio in his truck when she was a kid because that was their time to talk and sing songs.
Lizz grew up in San Diego with all of her family around. Her parents are transplants here, her mom from Hawaii and her dad from Texas but they made San Diego home a few years before she was born. She always knew this is where she’d raise her family too.
She is the Director of Human Resources for a large restaurant group in San Diego. She mostly works from home and has the luxury and making her own schedule. She loves her job and enjoys the continued learning that is a part of that profession.
Our Family & Friends
Meet Dominic, future big brother: Dominic is Jon’s son from a previous relationship. Dominic lives about 1.5 hours north of us in Redondo Beach, CA. We have partial custody and see him as often as possible. He used to come to San Diego every other week but now that he is a little older, has a job and a bunch of friends we have been visiting him in the Redondo Beach area bi-weekly.
Dominic is such a good kid with a great heart, we are so proud of who he is today. He is really looking forward to becoming a big brother.
Our Loved Ones: Jon is the youngest of 3, with 2 older sisters. He is originally from Los Angeles where most of his family still lives, including his 16 year old son, Dominic. We visit LA a few times a month to spend time with Dom and all of his cousins. And every summer we get Jon, his sisters, and all the kids together for a week camping trip.
Lizz is the youngest of 2. Her parents have been married for 37 years and live just 15 minutes away. Lizz and her mom talk every night even if it’s just for a few minutes. Every Sunday the entire family has brunch at her grandpa’s house, which is always full of people, food and a lot of laughter!
We have a family of friends who we have been close with for years. Those friends families are changing too as we now have new babies to welcome to the group! Our support group is strong and looking forward to seeing us grow our family.
Our Home & Closing Thoughts
Our Home: We moved into our house in San Diego, California in December of 2016. We have a huge backyard, a built-in grill – that we use weekly, and a fire pit we love to sit around. We have found ourselves really enjoying our downtime hanging out at home. Jon’s handyman skills have really kicked in, our most recent project being our new laundry room.
We live walking distance from the Kroc Center. The Kroc center has public pools, tennis courts, an ice skating rink and a lot of family features. We are close to great middle and charter high schools as well as city parks.
One of the things we love most about our city is that the great weather allows us to explore, be outside and try new things all year round. There is so much to do in our area including the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, award winning Children’s Museum, water parks, beaches and so much more!
Our Furry Friends: We have two 11 year old cats, Cowdy and Rufus. Cowdy is our chunky, lazy kitty while Rufus loves to hunt lizards in the back yard.
We rescued our pup Jackson 2 years ago. Jackson loves to snuggle. We take Jackson to the dog park a few times a week and take him to the beach every weekend. He is great with kids and loves to give lots and lots of kisses.
