Colleen & Josh
Hello! We are Colleen and Joshua from California! Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We realize that this is not easy, but we are here to support you and can’t wait to get to know you! We know that this decision takes bravery, courage and strength and that is something you should be proud of because ultimately what you are searching for is what’s best for your child. We think what you are doing is amazing and that you are a superhero!
We can’t wait to provide a happy, caring home with lots of love and patience. Building a strong family is the most important goal we have in our lives. We look forward to sharing our values with you. Hang in there, have faith and just know that whatever decision you make will be the right one.
We met in 2016 at a book signing in our town Napa Valley, CA. By our third date we were inseparable and practically living together!
We know that love doesn’t always come easy, as we have both dealt with difficult relationships in the past. But Karma and Cupid were on our side this time around and we haven’t looked back. With patience and practice we have built a strong foundation, securing our roots deep in the Earth so that we can withstand all challenges that come our way.
As a couple we choose to do things that nourish and support us. We love to travel, eat, cook and work out together. Food has always played a big part of our success as a couple; we live for exploring new cities and cultures through their food.
Adoption has been a priority since the beginning of our relationship. Since we cannot produce children of our own (something we knew prior to dating) we were both thrilled to realize that we both were choosing to grow our family through the blessing that is adoption.
Growing up we both had many friends that were adopted, and they always expressed gratitude and pride towards their birth family and adopted parents. We understand that family trees twist and turn in all directions – but the most important thing is to treat each other with love and respect.
I grew up in a small suburb of Dallas, TX called Coppell, as the middle child of three. As a kid I fell in love with baseball, which I played for nine years and stopped when I got to high school. I continued my track in music throughout high school, where I played the trombone.
I knew early on in my life that I loved hotel and restaurant business and so I went to College for Hospitality Management at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Today, my hospitality passion has moved from hotels and restaurants to the wine industry.
I am the Director of Hospitality for a small boutique winery and am fortunate that my job allows me to work from home some days, our culture at work is family oriented and making family time is a priority, so taking time for our new family won’t ever be an issue.
When I am not working, I love to get on the road and cycle with my friends, make BBQ, spend time in the kitchen with Colleen, and travel with Colleen. I can’t wait to have a future child and I look forward to traveling with him/her and showing them the world!
I was born in Denver, CO and grew up in Louisiana, Los Angeles, Hawaii and Phoenix. My parents were hard working business folks that opened businesses in multiple cities.
I believe I get my love of travel as well as hard working ethics from my parents. No matter how much we moved or how hard my parents worked, we always made time to spend quality time together, swimming, going to parks, concerts, fairs or even just renting movies at home with popcorn and M&M’s.
If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am an enthusiastic person that is out-going, enjoys positivity and has a natural tendency to take care of people. This has been helpful for me in my career path of owning my own restaurant.
I am always around other people and I take pleasure in making people feel comfortable and happy.
I especially enjoy learning and continuing to grow as a friend, daughter, wife and boss. Some of my favorite things are art + crafts, cooking, big earrings, playful fashion, history, reading, animals, ice cream, Chinese food, music and dancing.
We live in Napa Valley, CA where we are surrounded by beautiful farms, vineyards, hiking trails and other outdoor actives, since the weather is so lovely most of the year.
We are a short distance to the Pacific Ocean for beach days and hiking, San Francisco for city adventures and Lake Tahoe for skiing.
Our neighborhood is in the charming, historic part of Downtown Napa, where most of the homes are Victorians.
Our 3-bedroom house was built in 1885 and is filled with unique characteristics, like a reading nook and an old olive tree in the backyard.
There are nearby schools within walking distance of our home as well as a beautiful tree-filled park and playground.
Downtown is walking distance and is very family friendly with parades, fireworks, free concerts and festivals.
