Joshua & Rebecca
Hello and About Us!
Dear Birth Mother:
We are Rebecca and Joshua from Los Angeles! Words cannot express how excited we are that you have taken the time to consider us as the adoptive parents of your baby. We can only imagine how challenging a decision this must be for you; one that takes tremendous courage and selflessness.
Coming from large, loving families, it is our dream to share all the love, care and adventure we have experienced with kids of our own. For us, the road to parenthood has not been without a few bumps, but the ups and downs have brought us closer together. If we are lucky enough to be chosen by you, we promise your child will know unconditional love, safety and encouragement. We feel adoption is a beautiful way to expand a family.
We wish you love and support, whatever your decisions may be. Thank you for reading about us!
Rebecca & Joshua
We met at the wedding of mutual friends, but, because Joshua lived in Los Angeles and Rebecca in New York City, it was over a year before we had the opportunity to meet again. Our initial meeting had made an impression, however! Over the course of that year, we were on each other’s minds. Our relationship started over long distance and though that was hard at times, we got to know one another through email, long phone conversations and occasional visits. Rebecca moved to Los Angeles 6 years ago and shortly thereafter we were married at Rebecca’s family’s lake house in upstate New York, surrounded by friends and family from as far away as Switzerland and California.
We’re the best of friends and are over the moon to have found each other and built the life we have together! We are always up for adventure, but also enjoy the rhythms of our daily lives. We’re so excited about adopting and having the opportunity to pass along to a child all the love and care that we received from our own families.
Joshua is a Cinematographer, and works shooting TV commercials and feature films. He loves the visual storytelling that is the focus of his work, and is really living his dream professionally. Rebecca is an Event Producer, planning corporate conferences and meetings. Both of our jobs have enabled us to work with incredible people, including celebrities, politicians and musicians, and given us the opportunities to travel to exciting places globally.
Our Favorite Things To Do Together
- Cook really great meals together and for our friends and family.
- Sing and dance along to the radio while we’re cooking (or pretty much doing anything! We love to sing along to our favorite music!).
- Dream about all the things we’ll do together once we have kids.
- Take long hikes and get out in nature.
- Curl up on the couch together and read or watch TV and rub each other’s feet!
Five Plans for the Future
- Grow our family and enjoy parenthood!
- Get involved in our child’s school and start coaching sports!
- Visit Joshua’s brother in Thailand, where he manages a resort.
- Put in a new vegetable garden in our backyard.
- We want to get a couple chickens and build a small coop in our yard!

About Rebecca by Joshua
Rebecca is awesome! She is smart and funny, has a big heart for her friends and family and I think is the hottest girl in town. She has strong and long lasting friendships with friends going as far back as early childhood!
Rebecca is quick to laugh and great fun to hang out with, which probably explains her large circle of friends from very different walks of life. She is a natural with kids and is very close to her nieces and nephews. She’s always planning fun activities and crafts with the kids – like making a pirate flag for one of the islands in the lake at her family’s summer home, or planning themed dinners like Hawaiian and Mexican night (complete with holiday decorations and costumes!). She’s also always there to just listen and offer advice; she adores our family and they adore her.
She is an amazing host and hardly a week goes by without her hosting a dinner or a book club. While Rebecca has lots of things going on, she is level headed and has a strong personality. I very much enjoy getting her opinion on things and bouncing ideas. Her judgment is well thought through and fair.
Another thing that draws me to her is her curiosity for life and how she is always open to explore new things and ideas. I love how she plans fun things for us to do all the time.
Her family is another bright star in our lives, with shared holidays at their lake house where we have big bonfires, all kinds of outdoor activities and large joyous family dinners. With my family in Switzerland, Rebecca has managed the language barrier effortlessly and made herself like a pea in a pod. Her playful interest for speaking Swiss-German and German is to the great delight of my family and friends. Once we have a child and I can teach her or him my native languages, I know Rebecca will learn even more of the languages, too, and we will enjoy being a multi-lingual household!

About Joshua by Rebecca
I remember telling my mother, after I’d only met Joshua once, that he was the man I would marry and spend my life with. That is how I felt after just a few hours together! We met at a friend’s wedding and despite the music and noise of the party, I remember focusing on Joshua as if he was the only person in the room. He took my breath away.
Joshua is my very best friend. He has an intelligence about people and life experiences, and he offers encouragement and support in all my endeavors, while reminding me all the time of what is really important.
Joshua truly feels that it is never too late in life to pursue your passions – I think his life philosophy could best be described as learning from the past, but always keep looking forward. The love, support and acceptance he’s shown me has made me happier than I could have imagined. Our nieces, nephews and our friend’s kids gravitate to Joshua because he is so much fun, has tons of energy and jokes with them in a way that makes them feel so happy and comfortable. I know he’d be an incredible father and would instill in our child the qualities that make a person their best self.
Joshua is extremely passionate about his work as a cinematographer and photographer. His creativity is inspiring. His love for life reminds me all the time to count my blessings, make each day count and to never forget to take care of yourself and those you love.
Joshua has traveled ALL OVER, and I never get tired of hearing stories of his adventures in places as far away as Argentina, China and South Africa. He speaks 3 languages: English, Swiss German and German (well, almost 4, but he’ll be the first to admit his French is rusty!). He’s got a fantastic sense of humor and he keeps me and all our friends smiling – I couldn’t ask for more for myself or for our family.

Our Friends & FAmily
Our Family and Friends
We have wonderful large families, including 8 nieces and nephews, and are very lucky to have an awesome network of friends. Joshua’s family is very artistic – his Mom was a photographer and his Dad is an architect. Joshua, in addition to 4 brothers, has several aunts, uncles and cousins. Rebecca has wonderful relationships with her brothers and sisters-in-law. Rebecca’s parents are also great friends to us and we love spending time with them. Rebecca has a large extended family including her grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Day in Our Life
On a typical weekday, we are up between 6:00am-6:30am. We both exercise, so often Joshua will go for a swim and Rebecca for a run. Rebecca is usually working by 7:30am. If Joshua has a film shoot he will leave the house early to get on set. We will work normal business hours, then cook a nice dinner. We generally sit down over a good home cooked meal most nights and have long talks. We’ll then catch up on some reading, personal emails, take a walk around the neighborhood or cuddle on the couch and watch a little TV before bed. On weekends we love to spend time with friends, and usually catch up over dinner. We love to hit the Saturday and Sunday farmers markets, do some home improvements or garden, take long hikes, see movies, watch our friend’s band perform or explore a museum.
Our Community and Home
We live in a diverse neighborhood full of couples, kids, and loads of family dogs! There is a very large park nearby, and we’re not far from many fun points of interest: Dodgers Stadium, the beach, the surrounding mountains and Disneyland. There are lots of restaurants, shops, and farmers markets and the neighborhood has a real community feel – sort of a small town in a big city. Our home has 3 bedrooms with a living room, dining room and kitchen that are connected and overlook a large back yard. We have wonderful neighbors and a great school district. We love that we can walk to just about anything we want to do.
