Lindsay and Devon
Hello and Thank You
We are Devon & Lindsay from Grand Rapids, Michigan. We would like to express the respect we have for you and your strength during your adoption journey. We want you to know that whatever you choose will be right for your child and we honor the time and consideration you have put into this decision. We appreciate you taking the time to get to know us.
Since the beginning of our marriage we have considered adopting children as well as having biological children. Over the years, we have struggled to have a child biologically and it was an easy decision to choose adoption as a beautiful way to grow our family. We have big hearts and are excited to provide a child a happy and healthy home full of love, learning, and adventure.
A Little About Us: We met while attending college at Michigan State University. We had the same math class and both worked at the cafeteria. Devon caught Lindsay’s eye by being the cool guy who skateboarded to class and sat in the front row. Devon thought Lindsay was easy to talk to and always brightened the room. After graduation we knew we wanted to get out and explore the country – to meet new people and try new things. We spent five years in sunny California and then three in Illinois where we decided to get married. Devon wrote Lindsay an original song and after she said “yes” we enjoyed an elegant meal of champagne and grilled cheese to celebrate! After marriage we moved back to our native Michigan to settle down and be closer to our family and friends.
Our relationship thrives because we are best friends and have a deep mutual respect for each other. We have many common interests and genuinely enjoy each other’s company. We love being in nature, spending time with loved ones, and laughing together. We complete each other and can’t wait to start a family.
About Lindsay – by Lindsay: I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my two parents, a big brother and a little sister. As a family we took many road trips. One time all five of us piled into a two-door car and drove out to California. It was tight but one of my fondest childhood memories. My summers were spent at our family cottage and on the beaches of Lake Michigan. My parents taught us to value family, the importance of a good education, and to love and respect nature.
I have always loved math and science and wanted to use these skills to have a positive impact on my community. After graduating as salutatorian, I attended Michigan State University and got my degree in Civil Engineering. I work as an engineer for the City of Grand Rapids and spend every day working to improve my communities water supply. I love my job and it provides flexibility and a great work/life balance.
About Lindsay – by Devon: Lindsay is positive, kind, hard-working, fun, and always sees, and brings out, the best in people. Her kind and outgoing nature brings people together. She is always coming up with something fun to do with our friends and family. Lindsay is the most caring and brilliant person I have known and is a source of constant inspiration for me. I can’t wait to become a parent with Lindsay by side.
- Yoga – Namaste!

About Devon – by Devon: I was born in Flint, Michigan and grew up in a small town to the south with my mom, dad, and little brother. My dad was a biomedical technician at Flint’s City hospital and my mom was a systems analyst for a healthcare company. My parents are loving, hardworking people who always put family first. They encouraged me to learn musical instruments, play sports, enjoy the outdoors, and generally make the most of my formative years. Growing up, I discovered passion for playing guitar, hockey, snowboarding, and camping that I maintain to this day.
I received my Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) while living in Los Angeles and am presently working in that field for a civil engineering consultant. I have a flexible schedule and work for a family-focused company. I enjoy working with new technology and being creative with maps and websites, so GIS is a perfect fit.
About Devon – by Lindsay: Devon is my rock. No matter what life throws at us I can count on him to be strong and steady. He is patient with people and accepting. He truly knows the importance of family and has taught me to appreciate the little things in life. It’s for these reasons that I know he will be a good father.
- Playing music, mostly guitar and keyboards but I try them all
- Hiking and hunting for mushrooms
- History, learning about my heritage and participating in Scottish Highland game competitions
- Snowboarding, hockey and ice skating
- Lord of the Rings and all things Fantasy
Our Home and Community
We live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It took us a little time to get here as we have moved a few times throughout the country. No matter where we’ve lived we have always said that “home is wherever I’m with you”. About three years ago we moved back to Michigan to put down roots and start a family. We live in a cute little house just outside of downtown. Our neighborhood is very active, filled with families walking and kids riding bikes, and there are many parks nearby to explore. Grand Rapids is a lively city with a lot of culture but not far removed from the tranquility of nature. To the west we have Lake Michigan providing miles of lakeshore, beaches, and sand dunes. To the north we have our family cottage that Lindsay’s grandpa built over 50 years ago.
Meet our cats, Maple & Willow: We have two cats, Maple and Willow, and they are our pride and joy! Lindsay volunteered at an animal shelter in Illinois and Devon was surprised she only came home with two cats. They both have tons of personality with Maple being the cuddle-bug and Willow the shy one. Maple cannot wait to have another human to cuddle with and Willow cannot wait to have another human to ignore. They make us laugh ALL THE TIME and we love them like children. We love to celebrate their birthdays with tuna cake and birthday hats!
Meet Our Loved Ones
The best part about living back in Michigan is being close to our family. Both sets of parents live close by and Lindsay has a sister, Renae, that lives in town in addition to our large extended families. There are tons of family gatherings, cookouts, and holidays together. Any child brought into this family will feel the love felt from all around.
Devon’s brother, Michael, lives in Boston with his wife and our nephew and Lindsay’s brother, Matt, lives in Miami with his girlfriend. Though miles may lie between us we maintain a strong relationship and love to visit each other.
It takes a village to raise a child. Not only are we close with our family, but we also have an extended group of very close friends -many from childhood. Several of our friends have now become parents, with children that are looking for another friend to play with.
Family Traditions: Family history is very important to us. We are both very much invested in our heritage and cannot wait to help our future child explore their culture, as well. We love a good tradition and have carried on many from our families and have started many of our own including making polish dumplings at Christmas, summer seafood boils, and making our own maple syrup. Our favorite tradition is reading our vows together every year on our anniversary.
To Your Child we Promise:
• To love them unconditionally
- To teach them to love and respect themselves and others
- To provide them every opportunity for education and learning
- To always be there to support them and help them follow their dreams
- To go on adventures together
- To be open and celebrate their adoption story
Having a child to share our life with would mean the world to us. We’ve built a strong relationship and a good home and it is our dream to share that with your child. We promise that your child will have a stable home filled with all the love and commitment they deserve. We promise to honor your courage and generosity, know that your child will not be taken for granted.
Thank You: We truly believe that everything happens for a reason. That is what brought us on this journey and that is what brought us to you. We have so much love to give a child and hope to make a connection with you. We know this is a very difficult decision and we want you to know that you will find the perfect family for your child, no matter what you decide. Please reach out to us if you would like to know more.
