We are Ron & Lori and Matthew from Southern California. It’s so nice to “meet” you! Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us. While we don’t know the life circumstances you currently face or the journey that led you to consider placing your child for adoption, we have so much respect for you. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and self-sacrifice to choose life for your child even though you may not be in a position to parent them yourself. Please know that we are praying for you as you decide what steps to take from here.

We talked about adoption from the very beginning. Both of us knew that we wanted multiple children and it made sense that adoption would be a part of our story. After having our biological child, Matthew, our desire for more children was confirmed. We love being parents! We know that growing our family through adoption will multiply the love in our family and we can’t wait to embrace our newest child.

Our journey began in 2013 on a blind date arranged by a friend. We talked for hours on that first date and haven’t stopped since. We spent the next two years getting to know each other on day trips to Santa Barbara, Malibu, Las Vegas, and San Diego. We ate at amazing restaurants and hiked in local canyons. After a quick three-month engagement, we were married on a beautiful Friday afternoon surrounded by our closest family and friends. It was a family-friendly celebration with almost half of the guests being children. By the end of the night, glow bracelets and necklaces were on kids and adults alike as we danced our hearts out. Leaving the reception, Ron summed it up with the perfect description, “It’s like we’re driving out of a fairy tale!”

Miraculously, we were able to get pregnant within the first year. After three years of trying to get pregnant again, it became clear to us that if our family was going to grow it was going to be through adoption. We had anticipated this day would come and eagerly embrace it.

Whether we are staying home or on an adventure, we are happiest when we are together. We love exploring new places and eating yummy food … it’s even better when these things are combined! When we aren’t off exploring new places, we love spending time together at home. We enjoy building fires in the fireplace to roast marshmallows, watching “The Sound of Music”, playing in the pool, and grilling dinner for a backyard picnic.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. As the child of immigrant parents, I learned early in life the value of hard work. I am forever grateful for the sacrifices my parents made to give me a good start in life. As a child I enjoyed bike riding with my friends, reading, and collecting things like stamps and coins. I graduated from USC with a business degree and now own two successful businesses which allows me flexibility in my schedule to spend time with my family. In my spare time I enjoy working on cars and taking care of our yard. The best part of doing these things now is having Matthew by my side. I love being able to see how his mind works as he tries new things and grasps new concepts. It is humbling to see his innocence and to know that I am responsible for guiding him to know the difference between right and wrong, how to treat others, and how to live a life of integrity. I can’t wait to have another child to love on and guide through this life.

I waited a long time for Ron to come into my life and I can say without hesitation that he was worth the wait! Ron is a loving, faithful husband and I could not ask for a better partner to do life with. He is generous, compassionate, and playful. I love how his eyes sparkle when he laughs! Ron thrives as a father and I adore watching him with Matthew. He is this great combination of tender and goofy, wise and playful. Ron delights in spending time with Matthew and I know he is eager for another child to dote on!

As an Army family we moved all over before we settled in Arizona when I was eight. My childhood was spent reading books, climbing trees, and playing “school” with my little sister, Sara, in the backyard. After graduating from the University of Arizona, I moved to the Los Angeles area to work with inner-city churches. Six years later I transitioned to working as a teacher at an urban high school. For fourteen years I poured my heart into loving and teaching my students. I lived a very full and active life and yet, through it all, my heart longed to be married and have a family. One of the things that drew me to Ron was that I recognized a similar longing in him. We both agreed from the start that when we were blessed with children, I would leave teaching to stay home and raise them. I loved teaching but NOTHING compares to the joy of savoring each moment I have as a stay-at-home mom. I delight in early morning snuggles and mid-afternoon bike rides. Of all the things I have accomplished, nothing compares to raising a happy, confident child who knows he is well-loved. My heart eagerly anticipates the day when I have another little one to share all this love with.

Lori is the most compassionate, loving, sacrificing person I’ve ever met - which is why I married her! She is intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and I enjoy having deep conversations about life with her. I’m continually blown away by Lori’s gentle heart that allows her to love strangers and have compassion regardless of their circumstances. I couldn’t hand-pick a better mother for Matthew and I know that our future child will flourish in our family.

Matthew is an energetic four-year-old who is loving and intelligent, has an incredible sense of adventure, and loves all things with wheels. He is happiest when he is barefoot in the backyard, playing in dirt at his “construction site.” Matthew is an extrovert who loves to be in the middle of the action and always wants to help. Matthew is eager to be a big brother and has toys set aside to share with the baby once they are brought home.

Halmoni (Korean word for grandmother) is Ron’s widowed mother who lives in a separate house on our property. After running the family business for 40 years, she enjoys spending her retirement reading and watching television. She eats dinner with us every evening and loves giving snacks to Matthew while he is playing outside. Halmoni has a lot of love to give and is eager for a new baby to snuggle.

We bought our home in Southern California about a year ago and still continually marvel that we get to live in such a magical place. It is a large, four-bedroom home on a full acre with lots of trees and a large (safely-enclosed) swimming pool. The entire property is gated which provides ample space for little ones to safely play. The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. The schools are excellent and the community has multiple family-oriented events throughout the year. In addition to local activities, our home is about 30 minutes from the beach and an hour from the mountains. We have easy access to amusement parks like Disneyland and Legoland and cannot wait for the day we are able to be there with Matthew and our future child.

We are extremely close to our families with Ron’s mom living on our property and frequent visits with Lori’s parents and siblings who live in Arizona. In addition to our wonderful families, we have also been blessed with strong support in our relationships with friends who have become our “LA Family.” Some of these friendships have been 20 years in the making and there are lots of aunties, uncles, and cousins who are ready to love on the newest baby in the family. Our lives are rich with relationship and we are so thankful for the loved ones around us.

Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We can only imagine how difficult a decision it is to place a child for adoption and know it is truly an act of selfless love. We hope that you were able to get to know us as a family filled with love, laughter, and lots of grace. We can’t wait to embrace our newest family member and shower them with love and affection, security and belonging. As you make this difficult decision, please trust your heart.
