Matt & Kim
Hello from Matt and Kim
Dear Expectant Parent: We are both so excited to share our story with you. You are a true example of selfless love. You’ve been in our prayers for a long time now even though we’ve never met. We want this child to always know how much they are loved by us and by you. We appreciate you taking the time to get to know us.
We have been happily married for over twelve years. We have a precious eight year old daughter, Gabrielle and a life filled with family and lifelong friends. We are both so excited to welcome a new baby into our home. We have so much love in our hearts to welcome this special child.
After years of infertility, we feel that it is our calling to adopt. We both love our siblings very much and we have always wanted to have more than one child. We will allow our future child to make choices, have a voice, and encourage them to find their interests and passions as they grow.
It is so important to us to focus on the positives instead of negatives. We are highly motived and energetic people who love life. We both promise to love your child unconditionally.
Our Love Story: Matt was actually the first guy Kim ever asked out! While in college, Kim was persuaded to be in a Valentine’s Day date auction to raise money for charity. Kim was auctioned off to go on a date. She was very anxious about going because she knew nothing about the guy.
Kim asked her friend to go along. Her friend did not want to be a third wheel, but agreed to go if Kim could find someone else to join her. Kim went outside and found Matt who was washing his car. Kim shouted at him, “Hey, do you have plans tonight?” Matt looked up in shock and shyly replied, “No.” Kim replied, “Well you do now; you need to be up here by six o’clock because we are going to dinner.” His reply back was a shaky, “Okay,” Matt showed up to Kim’s apartment as promised. Fifteen minutes later the guy from the auction called and said he had to cancel their date. So Matt and Kim decided to go out to dinner that night and they have been together ever since.
More About Us: u We both graduated college together. Matt proposed outdoors on Valentine’s Day. Before dinner we went on a moonlit walk when Matt got down on one knee and asked Kim to be his wife. We had a fairytale themed wedding with a horse and carriage to make our day even more memorable.
We like spending time outdoors together as a family. We are fortunate to get the beauty of all four seasons in St. Peters, Missouri. During the fall months, we enjoy making huge leaf piles for Gabrielle to jump in and roasting marshmallows. During the winter months, we enjoy building snowmen, making snow angles, and sledding.
During the spring and summer months, we like to put the sprinkler up in the backyard for Gabrielle to run through, play family tag, hide and seek, and we will blow bubbles till dusk. We also enjoy cookouts, eating on our deck, and just listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. Every Wednesday night is game night in our home. Some of our favorite games include Candyland, Twister, Hungry Hungry Hippo, and Life.
We also enjoy family movie nights. We like to set up a tent in our living room, eat popcorn, and snuggle as family as we watch our favorite Disney movies.
We are active in our community and love to explore all our city has to offer.
Meet Kim, by Kim: I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. I am very close to my parents and my sister. During high school, I ran cross country, participated in musicals, was a cheerleader and active in both concert and show choir. You can still find me singing every day around the house and in the car.
I am extremely blessed that my family lives close to us so we can see them often. My childhood dream was to grow up and become a teacher. I attended Webster University, where I studied Elementary Education. I was a cheerleader in college and even voted captain my junior year! I also have a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
During college, I had the opportunity to live and work at Walt Disney World for two summers for their college program. I am also a huge Disney fan and being able to work at the Magic Kingdom was a dream come true. I have been teaching for fourteen years. Teaching allows me to be on the same schedule as Gabrielle. We have the same days off!
While teaching is a huge passion of mine, being a mom is what makes me a whole person. I love playdates, family outings, birthdays, and holidays. It is important to me to teach my children to give back to the community. I think it is my job to bring out my children’s talents and to teach them that they are capable of doing anything they put their mind to. My faith is important to me. I believe that my purpose in life is to serve God and to be the best mom, wife, daughter, sister, friend and teacher that I can possibly be.
More About Kim, by Matt: Kim is the calm and laid back one between the two of us. She is nurturing and sensitive to others needs. The thing I love most about her is the love and energy she has for Gabrielle. Kim is a natural mother who has so much love to give. She’s active in Gabrielle’s school and she never misses a chance to be a parent volunteer. Not only is she a wonderful mother, she is also a fantastic teacher.
Kim has even won a Missouri Outstanding Teaching award. Kim is able to connect instantly with people and the bond that she has with family and friends is admirable. On the weekends, Kim enjoys spending time with her family and loves to experience new things.
Meet Matt, by Matt: During high school, I was on the varsity golf team. This sport actually brought me to Missouri. I was recruited to play golf for Webster University.
During college, I was elected to be on the Student Athletic Advisory Board and I was able to play four years of college golf. I graduated with a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Marketing.
Today, I still enjoy playing golf when I get a chance, but being a dad is the most important thing to me. I love watching Gabrielle participate in all of her extracurricular activities. I also enjoy playing ball in the backyard, going on bike rides with her and teaching her new things. I can’t wait to become a father again, and do these same things with your child.
My dad was the Vice President of a fast food chain. He relocated several times during my childhood. I have a sister whose one year older than I. Many times my sister was my only friend when we moved to another city so we shared a very special bond. I was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. From there we moved to Kentucky. A year later, we moved to South Africa and then onto England. After living overseas, we lived in Maryland and Ohio.
Moving so much as a young child made me realize how important family is. Living in so many places helped me become an open minded person. I have experienced many different people, cultures, and traditions.
I work for a large engineering company where I am the District Sales Manager. I enjoy what I do and meeting with new people every day. My company has given me the opportunity to get my Master’s degree through their education program. I will be graduating shortly with a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Promotions. My company allows me to have a flexible schedule and I have a home office.
More About Matt, by Kim: Matt is the love of my life and my best friend. He is a thoughtful, outgoing and extremely caring person. He is fun and lively and makes me laugh like no other. My favorite thing about him is how much he loves his family. He lives to not only make Gabrielle and I happy, but he focuses on our whole extended family too.
Matt is patient and playful with Gabrielle. He always encourages her to do her best. Matt loves to learn new things. Matt has a green thumb and enjoys gardening with Gabrielle. I can’t wait to see Matt become a father again! He is such a great Dad!
Meet Gabrielle: Gabrielle is a happy, cheerful eight-year-old little girl. She’s a ray of sunshine and full of fun and curiosity. Gabrielle has always had a tremendous love for animals. She’s been taking riding lessons since the age of five and competes in horse shows twice a year. Her teachers would tell you that Gabrielle makes friends very easily and always invites everyone to play. She does not like to see others excluded.
Gabrielle is so excited to finally become a big sister. She has been asking for years when it would be her turn to get a brother or a sister. This year on her birthday we surprised her with the news that we were going to adopt. She immediately began jumping up and down with excitement. She kept saying, “This is the best birthday gift ever!” Gabrielle has prayed daily for a brother or sister and God is finally answering her prayers.
Our Amazing Family: Matt’s parents have been married over forty years and were high school sweet hearts. After his dad retired they moved to Missouri. Our subdivision trail actually connects to their subdivision. Matt is the youngest of two. His sister Melissa lives close by and is married and has a two year old daughter, Cecilia. They are also expecting a new baby soon.
Kim’s parents have been married for forty-five years. They are both retired and are a short drive away. They still live in the home that Kim grew up in. Kim is the youngest of two. Her sister Jennifer also lives close by. She is married and has a seven year old daughter, Lilly.
Our Home and Closing Thoughts
Our Home: We live in a beautiful home in a quaint subdivision in the suburbs in St. Peters, Missouri. Our home backs to tree lines and we have a paved trail next to our home. Our trail is scenic with small creeks, lots of trees, and open fields.
Our neighborhood is filled with families where you can find children playing outdoors together. Our home is newly remodeled and has an open floor plan. We have a two story home with four bedrooms, and three baths. Our basement is also finished with a large playroom and Matt’s home office space. Our home is just minutes away from one of the top ten schools in the state of Missouri.
We also live close to our church where we have a strong faith community in which we are very active. We are only a short drive away from St. Louis. On weekends, we enjoy going to the St. Louis Zoo, Science Center, Children’s Museum, a Cardinal game, city parks, and visiting local farms. We also enjoy seasonal activities around the holidays. These are just some of the reasons why we love Missouri!
Meet Jingle: Jingle is our toy poodle who has a big role in our family. She is extremely soft and cuddly. The best part is she does not shed and is hypoallergenic. We call her Jingle because she was actually a Christmas present.
Gabrielle’s Christmas wish was getting a puppy. That’s all she would talk about. So, on Christmas morning she jumped out of a box and immediately started licking Gabrielle on her cheek. They became friends at first sight. Jingle is absolutely the most loving dog we have ever met. She loves to go to the dog park, play fetch, go on long walks, but most of the time you can find her curled up in someone’s lap. Jingle loves kids and will even follow Gabrielle around the house. She will be so excited to have a new baby to look out after in the house.
Thank you for considering us to receive this amazing gift. We will always cultivate a culture in our home of love and support. Adoption will always be celebrated, talked about, and where our child’s story is important.
We will always celebrate their accomplishments, big or small and give them the tools they need to follow their dreams. We will never stop telling them how much they are loved with our words and actions. We also want them to know that they are so loved by God, by us, and by you.
