Michelle and Jason

Dear Birth Mother

Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about us. We hope this will offer you a peek into our loving, creative and fun life together and help you decide what is best for you and your child. You have our deepest respect and admiration for the courageous decision you are making.

While we are not able to have a child, we are beyond excited to create a family through adoption. We have been wanting a family since we first met. Both of us are eager to provide a home where our future child will feel unconditionally loved, nurtured, and safe.

We deeply value self expression and are committed to supporting our future child’s individual interests, creativity, and talents, whatever they may be, so they grow up feeling confident and free to be authentic in the world.

About Us: We met in Los Angeles nine years ago at an art exhibition through a group of mutual friends. One day Michelle offered to give Jason a haircut. During the haircut we found out we have a lot of things in common — we share the same birthday, we are both originally from Texas, and we even went to the same college in Houston at different times — this is in addition to both being artists.

We make the best travel companions and we love to travel. We love adventure and look forward to summers when we can travel abroad to discover new places. Of course, we see lots of art when we travel, but we also enjoy exploring new cuisines, museums, and other cultural destinations.

We enjoy making art side by side in our shared studio. In addition, we both love learning new things, and we love to laugh. We also share a love of animals, especially dogs. Jason is close to his mother, sister and her husband, who all still live in San Antonio, Texas, where Jason grew up. Michelle is very close to her parents, as well as her two sisters and brother, their spouses and their kids — she has five nieces and nephews who range in age from 9 months to 25 years old. Most of Michelle’s family now lives very close by, in and around Los Angeles.

Dear Birth Mother

About Jason

About Jason by Jason: I had a happy childhood growing up in San Antonio, Texas with my mother, father, and older sister Reba. I left San Antonio after high school to study art in Houston. After graduating from college, I came to Los Angeles to get a master’s degree in Fine Art. I am a painter and a Professor of Art now, and teach at a community college. I am also the Director of an art gallery that exhibits the work of other artists. I am very passionate about what I do and it also gives me a lot of flexibility and freedom so I will have a lot of time to spend with our future child. I can’t wait to travel and take them on adventures, and expose them to culture, art, and all kinds of music.

More About Jason by Michelle: Jason is one of the sweetest and most gentle men I know. He is sensitive, loving and a very supportive partner. He is also playful and fun, and makes me laugh all the time. Jason loves to read, travel, and is very passionate about art and teaching. In addition to being a talented artist, he is a wonderful writer and sometimes writes reviews for art publications. He loves all the Marvel Comic movies and prefers to go see those in the theater when he can. He loves to cook, watches a lot of cooking shows, and is usually the one making dinner. He loves our three dogs Happy, Daisy and Guston, and is a great uncle to all of our nieces and nephew. I know he will be the most patient and loving Dad!

A fun fact about Jason is he gets really excited about the holidays, especially Christmas. He owns several Christmas sweaters and a Santa hat and starts looking forward to it as early as June.

About Michelle

About Michelle by Michelle: I grew up in Houston, Texas with my parents, two sisters, and brother. Both of my parents are doctors, as are many other members of my family. Even though I came from a medical family, I was always interested in doing something creative with my life. It wasn’t until after college that I realized my real dream was to be an artist. I moved to Los Angeles to get my master’s degree in Fine Art and begin my art career. In addition to my artistic dreams, my other big dream is to be a Mom. I have arranged my life so I can work from home knowing that when Jason and I start a family, I will be able to spend the majority of my time with our future child. I also have learned from my own experience that each person is unique and needs to feel free to follow their own dreams and interests. I know I will always encourage and support my future child in their journey to pursue whatever their dreams are, even if they are different from mine. And no matter what, my future child will always have my absolute, unconditional love.

More About Michelle by Jason: Michelle is a unique, smart, and curious person who is a natural nurturer and one of the most responsible people I know. She is extremely supportive of everyone around her, and is easy going and fun to be with. Michelle is very close to her family, and is a wonderful sister and aunt to her multiple siblings, nieces, and nephews. She also loves interior design and makes our home beautiful and comfortable. Most of all, I know that she can’t wait to bring a new member of the family into the warm, loving world she has created for me, Daisy, Happy, and Guston.

About Michelle

Our Home and Community

We live in a two story townhouse on the east side of Los Angeles in a neighborhood called Echo Park. Our neighborhood is beautiful and hilly, with a tree-filled park walking distance from our home. Families go to the park to picnic, play, exercise, and hike. We often take our dogs there, and it is so big, with so many trees and trails, you can forget you are in the middle of a huge city. Dodger Stadium is right in the middle of the park so our house is close enough to walk to games. Another nearby park has a beautiful lake with all kinds of water birds and paddle boats you can rent by the hour. Our house has a large backyard and two outdoor patios, and we have gorgeous views of the Los Angeles hills, valleys, and downtown skyline. The Los Angeles sunsets from our patio are absolutely stunning. There are also great schools in the neighborhood, including a wonderful elementary just a five minute walk from our house.

Our Dogs: We have three rescue dogs, Daisy, Happy, & Guston. All three are mixed breeds, but Daisy and Happy are Chihuahua/Terrier mixes, and Guston is a Cockerspaniel and Poodle mix. They are well trained and perhaps just a little spoiled, but they are all funny and have unique personalities. They love to play, do a few tricks for a treat, and go for hikes in nearby Elysian Park. They give great cuddles and love it when our nieces and nephew come to visit.

Family and Friends

Our Family & Friends by Michelle: We are lucky to have a lot of family living in the Los Angeles area. We are very close to them all. My sister Caroline and her baby Adeline live about fifteen minutes from us in Pasadena. We see them all the time, usually several times a week. My parents, Stan and Carolyn, my brother David, his wife Vicky, and their daughter Josephine live about forty-five minutes away in Westlake Village, California. We video chat or talk on the phone several times a week, and see each other a couple times a month. I also have two wonderful nieces, Lily and Eliza, who live in Los Angeles, too. My older sister, Cheryl, is Lily and Eliza’s mom. She, her husband Tito, and my nephew Miles live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Although we only see them a couple times a year, the whole family stays close by texting just about every day. We all send each other notes, funny memes, interesting articles, and pictures throughout the day. Jason’s mother, Pam, his sister Reba, and her husband Carey live in San Antonio, Texas. We see them every year for the holidays, as well as Jason’s Aunt Eva, Uncle Ruben, and his many cousins who also live in San Antonio. Jason’s mom usually travels to visit us in Los Angeles once or twice a year as well. When we adopt our future child, this will be Pam’s first grandchild. She is beyond excited to become a grandmother!

In addition, we have a big group of friends here in LA and scattered all over the world. We love to have dinner parties, go to art openings, and travel to visit friends who live in other cities in the United States and abroad.

Our Final Thoughts: We are so grateful you took the time to learn more about us. We hope this profile gave you some sense of who we are and is of some help for you as you decide what is best for you and your child. We respect and are in such awe of the brave choice you are making!

With love,

Michelle and Jason
