Mike and Tim
Dear Birth Mother
We are Mike & Tim from California. Words can’t express our gratitude for you choosing to consider us as potential parents for your child. We understand that you are making an incredibly important decision, and we are so excited to have the opportunity to share a little bit about our family with you!
Our Thoughts on Adopting: Starting soon after we first met about eight years ago, we began imagining a future together that included being parents and adoption just felt right to us. We knew that, when the time was right, we would want to welcome a new member into our family. We have now been married for over a year, and we have built a stable and happy life for ourselves in Santa Monica, California. We feel that now is the perfect time to expand our family!
About Us: We met through a dating app in April 2012. We instantly hit it off on our first date, we met for happy hour at a speakeasy bar called Copa D’Oro in Downtown Santa Monica. and the conversation took off from there! When we first started dating, we enjoyed exploring Los Angeles together, going out to eat in different neighborhoods, and attending sporting events and concerts. We went to a Dodgers baseball game for our second date, and that experience remains one of our favorite memories together. We also like to explore different parts of the world through vacations, and to take spontaneous weekend road trips in California! Our favorite weekend destination for a quick getaway is Palm Springs! We are both very close with our large families, while we don’t live in the same state, we see each other a few times a year.
Tim has a lot of experience with the complexities of adoption. Tim recently reconnected with his siblings when their adoptive family found him on Facebook. It’s been great to get to know them, and it’s also taught us a lot about how we want to help support our own child someday as they have a relationship with their own birth family. We have had a great experience getting to know Tim’s adoptive family, Josh, Cassie and Hilary. Tim’s sister Hillary has 4 kids and we are the “Fun Uncles”. We see each other a few times a year. We are grateful to be part of their lives.
I was born and raised in New Jersey. I am the youngest of three siblings, and I have been close with my older brother and sister for my entire life. My parents divorced when I was a child, but they remained on good terms, and I spent time living with each of them growing up. I spent a lot of time as a kid playing sports, especially soccer and basketball, and I was also motivated to do well in school. After high school, I went to college at Rutgers University in New Jersey. I knew I wanted to make a big change after college, so I decided to apply to several law schools in California and hopefully end up on the West Coast. I ultimately attended the University of Southern California and obtained my degree in 2008. For the past ten years, I have worked as an attorney at a small law firm in Santa Monica, California. My office is only a few blocks from my home, so I have a great commute, and I have a wonderful work-life balance. If Tim and I are lucky enough to be blessed with a baby, I plan to adjust to a part-time schedule so that I can spend as much time as possible with our family.

I was born and raised in Arizona. My parents split when I was very young. I got the best of both worlds. I spent school years in Arizona with my Mom, stepdad and little brother. I spent summers with my Dad and stepmom exploring Alaska! I attended Arizona State University, where I studied Political Science. After college I spent a couple of years exploring the world, from hiking Machu Picchu in Peru, couch surfing in Germany to bartending a lodge in Yellowstone National Park. After exploring, I moved out to California in 2011 and met Mike in 2012! I have worked on Mayoral campaigns and now work in Government Relations in the private sector.
When I was growing up my Mom chose not to share with me and my brother that 3 of our siblings were placed for adoption until I reached an age that I was mature enough to understand. We lost touch with them when I was 15. In 2016, when I was 26, the family who adopted my siblings found me on Facebook and we all reconnected! The most exciting thing to happen in the past couple years has been reconnecting with my adoptive siblings and we continue to build strong ties.
More About Tim – by Mike: I KNOW THAT TIM IS GOING TO BE A WONDERFUL FATHER. He is kind, reliable, and trustworthy, and I know he will be a great role model for our future child. On top of that, Tim is a big kid at heart, and he loves to have fun. Our child will have a blast growing up with him!
Fun Facts About Tim:

Family & Friends
Our family and friends are super supportive and very excited to be part of our journey! We don’t have family nearby, but we do our best to stay close with family all around the US, such as Alaska, New Jersey, Florida, and New York. We have built a supportive 2nd family here in LA with all our friends who are all very excited that we are adopting. We will have no shortage of LA Aunts and Uncles. Our friend Sally recently had her 2nd child and is excited for us to grow our family soon, play dates!
We make an effort to see our families a few times each year in addition to the holidays. We are very close with Mike’s sister, Melanie, who lives in New Jersey. We have a tradition of seeing each as often as possible. Florida annual vacations have recently become a new tradition!
Our Traditions: Every year we head back East to spend 2 weeks with family during Christmas break. We spend our time goofing around with our nieces and nephews, bowling, playing, and baking lots of cookies!
We both enjoy hosting themed parties for friends and family. Our Oscars party is always a packed event!
Our Home & Community: We live in sunny Santa Monica, California. We live in a very walkable community; we take the car out of the garage maybe once a month. We are walking distance to the beach, local shops, parks and restaurants. Our neighborhood is the best of both worlds, small neighborhood vibe with the best schools and community atmosphere, but just minutes away from culture at the Santa Monica Pier. We love our neighborhood and it will be an amazing place to raise our future child!
