Mike & Naseem
Hello from Naseem and Mike in CA!
Dear Birth Mother: Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We know that the decision you’re making is not an easy one, and that it takes courage and conviction to see through. We can’t begin to imagine what you are going through.
For us, this is the beginning of something special, a wonderful chance to be parents. We want you to know that should we be lucky enough to be chosen, we will be supportive partners through this process, and most importantly, will love and cherish your child.
About Us: We first met in 2004 in Los Angeles, when Naseem was visiting her brother who happens to be one of Mike’s best friends. Sparks flew!
For Mike, this was a tricky situation. For Naseem, it was nice to know that her brother already approved of Mike. Naseem had just finished architecture school, and was deciding where to launch her career. Mike convinced her to stay in LA, even though she didn’t have a job yet. We’ve been together ever since!
We enjoy exploring the world together, whether it’s going for a long walk with our dog to see what’s new in our neighborhood, or traveling abroad to immerse ourselves in another culture. We are looking forward to continuing our adventures as our family grows.
Our Interests: Besides traveling, we also enjoy a cozy home life, and love to cook a delicious meal then snuggle on the couch to watch a movie. One of our favorite things to do on Valentine’s Day is to stay in and cook something together that we’ve never cooked before.
For some time now, we have been more than ready to welcome a child into our lives. The years that we struggled with infertility have only strengthened our resolve and desires to become parents and introduce a child to the many possibilities in the world, while instilling in them confidence and a strong moral fiber.
About Mike, by Mike: I am employed as a software developer, and I’m fortunate enough to be able to work from home most of the time. However, my real passions are my personal relationships: there is nothing that makes me happier than spending time with those I love. Doesn’t matter if we’re hiking, out to dinner, or doing nothing whatsoever, the times I value most are with our family and friends.
More About Mike, by Naseem: Although Mike likes to say that he avoids the limelight, he is a wonderful “people” person. By telling a silly joke or quickly finding a common interest, he is able to set those around him immediately at ease, whether a new acquaintance or an old friend. I’ve always been impressed with this. He is real. Mike also takes great care of his friends and family, and is not judgmental when someone is going through a hard time. He knows we all have ups and downs and is with you through the long haul.
I know he will be a great dad, and am so looking forward to raising a child with him. A lover of books and poetry, I know he’s going to be the dad that looks forward to reading a bedtime story to our child. He’s also going to be the dad that’s there to bandage up a skinned knee, and field the difficult life questions! I know he’s looking forward to helping our child develop into a smart and sensitive person.

About Naseem, by Naseem: I am an architect, and love collaborating with a talented team of people to design welcoming and democratic public spaces. Whether we are traveling abroad or exploring a new neighborhood in our home town, I love to walk through a new place and observe the built fabric, materials and colors, and the way people live in their neighborhoods. There is so much to be inspired by in the world, and so much beauty to be found in the most unexpected places.
More About Naseem, by Mike: Before I met Naseem, she had earned a degree in science from an Ivy League university. After working in her field for a few years, she decided to stop and become an architect. This is Naseem in microcosm: the intelligence and determination to succeed, combined with the bravery to change her mind.
When faced with a problem, she will work tirelessly to find a solution. When she makes a friend, they are a friend forever. She is kind and funny and true.
I admire these qualities in Naseem because they are areas in which I am not my best. It’s what makes us a good team, and what has made me always, since we first met, want to be with her. I know any child of hers will be an all-around, well-balanced achiever, just as she is.

Our Family & Friends
Naseem’s parents were both born abroad, her father in India, her mother in Germany. They met at the University of Washington. Mike’s parents are both native Californians, and on his father’s side he is a fifth-generation American.
Despite these varied backgrounds, they share similar views on the importance of family as well as a tolerance for the myriad of viewpoints in the world. They genuinely enjoy each others’ company, and are all looking forward to being grandparents. Your child would be the first grandchild for all four of them!
Our Favorite Traditions:
• Monterey Jazz Festival: Mike’s dad’s A/V company helps to produce the festival, so every year the family meets up and spends the weekend together listening to great music and eating delicious food.
• Thanksgiving in Seattle: Both of Naseem’s parents are exceptional cooks, so it only makes sense to spend the ultimate food holiday with them in Seattle! We get to catch up with family and friends and enjoy winter weather in the Pacific Northwest. And, it is tradition to watch the Apple Cup (University of Washington vs. Washington State football) on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Naseem’s dad is a die-hard Huskies fan!
• Christmas Eve in Petaluma: Mike’s parents annual Christmas Eve “open house” is an event that our family and friends look forward to. Everyone knows they are welcome to stop by at any point in the evening, which is filled with laughter, music, and delicious holiday treats. In addition, friends that are unable to be with their own families for the holiday stay over to Christmas morning. Mike’s mom always has a Christmas stocking for everyone!
• Annual ski trip to Big Bear with our LA friends, who are all now teaching their kids to ski. We can’t wait to have our own child join in the fun!
• Visiting friends in Boston: Mike’s best friend from college and Naseem’s oldest friend in life both live in Boston with their spouses and children. We try to visit Boston once a year to see them.
Our home, dog and final thoughts
Our home and community: We live in bustling downtown Los Angeles. It’s a vibrant area, full of activity, people and culture. There are parks, restaurants, art galleries, museums, and sports arenas. There are also public events almost every weekend: outdoor movies on weekend summer nights, or ice skating in the winter.
We’ve talked about our love of travel, but the truth is that you can experience so many different cultures right here at home in Los Angeles! There are so many ethnic communities and neighborhoods to explore – whether checking out an art exhibition or a new cuisine. It’s a great way to introduce a child to the many cultures of the world.
Los Angeles also has a beautiful natural environment, and we’re looking forward to being able to take our child to the beach, or for a hike in the mountains. And, of course, we can’t wait to take our child to the zoo, or to Disneyland!
We also like to spend a lot of time AT home. We live in a wonderful building with friendly neighbors and a family atmosphere. We think it’s the best of both worlds: a quiet place to live among pleasant people, with a world full of fun and learning right outside our doors.
In Closing: Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us. We want you to know that we’re ready to be parents, to provide all the protection, love, and security that a child needs. We both love our families, and we can’t wait for a chance to make our family bigger. We hope that we get the opportunity for our lives to intersect with yours.
