Neil & Ashley
Hello! We are Neil and Ashley (and Grace!)
We would like to thank you for taking time to look at our profile! We live in Iowa along with our two dogs and our two-year-old daughter named Grace, whom we adopted when she was two weeks old.
For as long as we have been married, we have been excited to have children, and we are very excited to see God’s work to grow our family. We would like to thank you for choosing adoption and for considering our family for your child.
We can’t wait to meet you! Adoption holds a special place in our hearts, and we know that it is not possible without courageous people like you.
Getting To Know Who We Are: We have been married for 10 years and everyday has been an adventure! Neil was in the Marine Corps for the first three years of our marriage and we were apart most of that time. Those years were hard but by God’s grace Neil made it home safely and our marriage became stronger because of the challenge deployment was for us.
After the Marine Corps, we moved to Iowa to be closer to our families. We waited for God to grow our family and after 6 years he led us to our daughter Grace. Grace was two weeks old when we received the call that her birth parents had chosen us to be her adoptive parents. Adopting Grace is by far the best thing we have ever done together. Our life still continues to be adventurous but now Grace has joined in the fun!
We spend a lot of time with our families and enjoy hiking, biking and boating. We cherish every moment with her and cannot wait to meet our next child.
A Few Fun Facts And Favorites:
Dessert: Anything chocolate!!!!
Room in your home: We love our living room because it is the place where we all can come together. We watch movies, play games, run around with Grace, or just relax.
Holiday Tradition: We play Christmas music, have a special meal and decorate the Christmas tree. We buy ornaments whenever we take a trip or have a significant event in our lives.
Movie: We love Disney movies!
Foods to bake together: Ashley loves to bake cookies, cakes and anything really! We enjoy being in the kitchen as a family cooking and baking together.
Hobby: We enjoy being outside in any season. Both of our extended families live by water so we love to swim, go boating, and water skiing. In the winter we love to sled and snow ski. We enjoy fall and spring for biking and hiking.
A Little About Ashley, by Neil: Ashley is an incredibly warm, caring person who is always thinking about others. Her desire to care for others led her into nursing and is what excites her most about being a mother. She has strong relationships with her immediate and extended family, and loves getting together with them over the holidays and during the summer. Most of her extended family lives near the shore of Lake Michigan where Ashley grew up, and we enjoy spending time every summer visiting them at the lake.
Ash loves being outside, especially if she can be on the water, so our summer trips to the lake are her favorite. She is full of energy and loves to plan trips with family and friends. Aside from organizing regular family adventures, she also enjoys hosting just about anyone at our house. She enjoys hosting get-togethers, because she loves making people feel welcome, just like they’re part of the family.
I have learned a lot from Ashley in the past 10 years, but the thing that I think makes her unique is that she only sees two types of people: those that we haven’t met yet, and family.
Ashley loves her job as a nurse. It is a great opportunity to love others and serve them in a time of need. She works one day per week at our local hospital. Until two years ago she was the supervisor of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the hospital, however she stepped down from that role when we adopted Grace so she could stay home with our daughter.
A Little About Neil by Ashley: Neil is a man of honor in every sense of the word. In everything situation, he tries to do the right thing even if it is the harder thing. I love this about him because it makes him a wonderful husband and father.
Neil always takes the time to listen when I need to talk and deeply cares for our family. He works very hard to support our family because it is important to us that I am able to stay home to take care of our children. He is always ready to play and have fun with Grace. He is always flying her around the house or building forts with her. Grace loves her “DADA” very much and waves goodbye to him every morning and is waiting by the door when he gets home at night.
Neil is outgoing and no matter what group we are in, people are naturally drawn to him. He is very friendly and is always willing to help someone in need. This is a trait we hope to instill in our children. I am a very lucky lady!
About Neil’s Career: Neil is an accountant and he is very good at it. He works hard to make it possible for Ashley to stay home with Grace. On the side Neil is a very talented Builder and home designer, he actually designed and built the house we life in now!
Our Loving Families
Meet Big Sister, Grace: Grace is very excited to become a big sister! She loves playing with other children, especially her cousins. She is a typical two-year-old with a lot of energy! She loves to swim, play with her toy barn, and enjoys “doing” Maya and Sig’s hair. She is outgoing and very sweet. She loves to cuddle and have family movie night.
Love Makes a Family: Our friends and family make us who we are. We both come from energetic families who are always looking for something fun to do together. We have taken many vacations with both of our families and they are always memorable to say the least. An RV, boat, or car usually breaks down at some point and we all have to make the best of it. The mishaps are not always ideal but in the end those days turn out to be the most memorable from the trip.
We are blessed with a large group of friends that would do anything for us if needed. We always seem to be watching each other’s kids or sharing a meal to catch up. God has richly blessed us with the people in our lives.
Introducing Maya & Sig, Our Dynamic Duo: Maya is our 10-year-old Puggle who weighs in at a whopping 15 pounds, while Sig is a 115lb Great Pyrenees. Despite their mismatched size, they are great with each other, and with Grace. They are both very playful and we love taking them with us on our adventures. They are both big cuddlers, which is great except when Sig tries to sit on your lap.
Our Home and Closing Thoughts
Home Sweet Home: We live in the Midwest and love it! The people here are very friendly. Iowa is a great place to raise a family, and our school district is ranked very high in the nation. We live in a relatively small community where it is safe for the children to play outside.
Our neighborhood has lots of other children who love playing together in the backyards. Our favorite room in our house is our living room. It has a big comfy couch where we enjoy playing games and spending time as a family. During the winter, we like to play cards in front of the fireplace or cuddle up on the couch to watch a family movie. At the end of the day, our house is just a house, but the memories that we share here are what makes this our home.
About Our Faith: Our faith is a very important part of our lives. We trust in Jesus as our savior and try each day to live out His example of love and sacrifice. We believe that the Bible is God’s word, which He gave to us as guide for our lives. God loves every person on this earth and wants what is best for each of us. He extends grace to us when we fall short, and we strive to show that same grace to others.
Things That Matter To Us: Even before we were married we talked about having children and what we wanted our family to be like. We believe that children are a beautiful gift from God, and it is our job as parents to teach them about His love. It is very important to us that we lead by example and teach our children how to love each other and the people around them. We hope that our children learn to see the good in people and give grace when needed.
Our promise to you is that we will love your child with all of our hearts and we will do our absolute best to help them become the person that God created them to be.
In Closing: From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for looking at our profile. We can’t imagine what you’re going through right now, but please know what we are praying for you and for your child. We would love to meet you, get to know you, and make you a part of our family.
