Getting to Know Us
It really was love at first sight when we met as freshman’s the first week of college in Boston. We have been together ever since and that was over 20 years ago! We moved to Los Angeles right after school and got married. Time really does fly as we’ve been married 17 years now. We view our marriage and our lives as one big adventure.
Trying to build our own family has been a challenging road for us, but we are excited to find ourselves with the opportunity to adopt.
We love to travel together and look forward to showing our child the world. When home in Los Angeles, we love to go for long walks in our neighborhood and entertain our family and friends at our home. Our house is always lively and full of interesting conversation and laughter. We are also huge animal lovers. We both grew up with dogs and rescued our first dog, Stumpy, when we were in college together. The little guy was in our lives for 19 years! We currently have three other wiener dogs, Daisy, Bella and Em, who are an important part of our family. Nothing beats hanging out at home on a lazy Sunday with our dogs.
A Little Bit About Jen
A Little Bit About Jen
I worked in the entertainment industry for over 20 years as a publicist and an agent. I had been practicing yoga fort 12 years to keep me calm and centered.
Over the years my love and passion for yoga grew and I found myself wanting to teach. I became a yoga instructor about 2 years ago and left the entertainment industry behind. I love the freedom of my new lifestyle. Teaching yoga gives me the time to enjoy the simpler pleasures in life.
I have become an outdoors enthusiast and I can often be found hiking with friends and riding my bike to run errands. Once we are gifted with a child, I will stay home and be a full time mom. I think this will be the greatest, most rewarding job I will ever know. My other great passion is travel. From my very first trip to Europe at the age of 9, I was bit by the travel bug. I love to explore new places and meet new people. Although, I am a very healthy eater, I love to bake. I can often be found in the kitchen whipping up a batch of my famous chocolate chip cookies or coconut custard pie.
I love to dote on my dogs and actually bake them peanut butter dog treats from scratch in the shape of hearts. They are crazy for them. I am fiercely loyal and dedicated to my family and friends. They are everything to me.
I also really enjoy spending time with my nephews and all my friend’s children. I often throw baking and swim parties for the kids at our home. Recently, I have found the time to give back to my community. One day every week, I volunteer at our local hospital visiting with patients. This work makes me feel so humble and blessed in my own life.
Meet Jen by Pete
I fell in love with Jen the first time I saw her. She has big, beautiful eyes and a warm smile. I knew she was the one immediately and that was 24 years ago. Jen is funny, thoughtful, smart and adventurous. She enjoys traveling and doing yoga. One of her favorite things to do is spend time with our nephews and our friend’s children.
She always makes kids laugh and smile. I just know Jen will make an amazing mother, as she is so supportive and loving.
A Little Bit About Pete
I grew up between New York City and Rome, Italy. I traveled with my parents, sister and adopted brother all over Europe from the age of 11 to 16. This experience really shaped who I am today.
I am a very social person with a strong work ethic. I have worked in the entertainment industry since I was 13 years old in both film and television. For the last 17 years, I have worked as an agent representing the creative people behind the scenes in film and television.
I am a huge film buff and love watching movies. I also am passionate about art and collect contemporary art. My other hobby is photography and I can usually be found at all times with a camera in my hand. I take pictures of pretty much everything I see. However, the most important thing to me is spending time with my family and friends.
I love cooking for the people I love and look forward to summer when I BBQ for everyone. I make a mean steak!
Meet Pete by Jen:
What do I say about my best friend? I just adore this guy! Pete is my rock! He always makes me feel safe and secure. The best thing of the last 24 years has been the laughter. Pete makes me laugh more than anyone else.
When I’m sad, he will stop at nothing to put a smile on my face, even if it means making silly faces and doing whacky dance moves. Pete is an amazing multi tasker, a skill I envy! He is also really great at figuring things out and problem solving. He’s the guy you want around when that ” build it yourself” coffee table comes with no instructions.
I love his passion for photography. He is a self taught photographer and pretty good, I must say. I love Pete’s sense of adventure and “fly by the seat of your pants” attitude. Things are NEVER boring. He takes such good care of me, our family and our friends. He will go to the ends of the earth to make sure we are all happy.
Our Home and Family
We love to travel together. We usually plan one big trip per year and look forward to it for months on end. Traveling is something that we started doing as kids together. We even spent a semester abroad in college living in a castle in Holland!
Some of the countries we’ve visited over the years include, France, Italy, Argentina, Spain, England, Denmark and Czechoslovakia. There are still so many more adventures to have and new places to discover.
We can’t wait to show our child the world!!! Sometimes, though, you just need to discover your own backyard, so we spend one night a week on “date night.” This usually means we walk around our neighborhood, try a new restaurant, meet some new people and just enjoy the city we live in. There are always new things to see and do.
We built our home in Los Angeles about 7 years ago. It’s very modern, yet cozy and showcases our love of art. Our dogs basically rule the house. You can tell by all the toys and little beds scattered about.
The thing we love about our neighborhood is that you don’t need to get in the car. We can walk to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, parks, farmer’s markets and more.
When we are gifted with our child, we can walk to the playground, library, preschool and elementary school! There are also lots of families and children in our neighborhood, with activities geared towards children all around us. We are never bored living here and we don’t think our child will be either.
Our families are supportive of our adoption journey.
Jen’s Family: My parents, younger brother and grandmother all live back east in MA. We never go more than 3 months without seeing each other. We are a small, tight knit family.
Some of our favorite things to do when I visit them include, big family Scrabble matches, enjoying leisurely meals together and going to the local park together for water sports. My brother and I usually trade off a kayak and paddle board in the summer.
I’m really looking forward to taking my child to this very special park, as this is where I took my first steps as a child. There is something so symbolic and wonderful about bringing my child to this very special place someday.
My parents are so excited to become grandparents! This will be a first for them and they can hardly wait! My mom plans on spending a lot more time in LA when her grandchild arrives.
Pete’s Family: My parents live in FL and we go to see them every year. They have been together for over 50 years and are still so committed to one another. It”s really inspiring. My parents love to go on cruises together. It’s always a treat when they bring the whole family along. We’ve done this a couple of times.
My sister, Jen, and our nephews, Jacob and Bo, live just north of San Francisco. We get together as often as our schedules allow. It’s so amazing to be a part of my nephew’s lives and watch them grow up. It just happens too quickly!!!
In addition to our immediate family, we are also blessed with a colorful group of friends from all walks of life. Several of our friends all live in our neighborhood. You never know, who’s going to pop over for dinner, or to hang out and watch a movie with us. Good thing we have such a big couch!!!!!!
Our Hopes and Dreams:
We dream of providing a home of unconditional love, where we can teach our child to be a good, caring and loving person.
We look forward to cultivating our child’s unique talents and nurturing their creative abilities. We want to instill the sense of wonder and adventure we have in our child. We want for our child to be curious, to grow and to feel secure. We want our child to dream and will help him/her to achieve their dreams whatever they may be.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know us. Thank you for your courage, trust and consideration as potential parents for your child.
We promise to love your child unconditionally.
We promise to always be there for them.
We promise to laugh a lot and show your child the world.
We promise to be open and honest with your child about the special way that we became a family.
We promise to create a happy, loving environment filled with all the best things in life (love, laughter, health).
We promise to be the best parents we can be.
