We’re Phillip and Jorjeana from Georgia. We are so very grateful to be considered by you as potential adoptive parents. We are enthusiastic to become parents and share our beliefs in regards to reaching toward your full potential and always finding ways of expressing yourself. Adoption has been something we have talked about since the beginning of our relationship. We understand you have many choices and we are honored and tickled, yes, tickled, to have this chance to offer our creative home as an option for you and your family.
We met at a Halloween party that was hosted by a mutual friend whom we knew through animation – Jorjeana had done voices for one of his children’s films and he had been instrumental in Phillip beginning a career as a professional animator. Phillip was dressed as a character from a Stanley Kubrick film and Jorjeana was a doctor with a clown nose (sort of a female Patch Adams?). When they met, Jorjeana’s clown nose fell off, Phillip picked it up, and the rest is history.
We both studied music before we met (guitar) and our home is full of instruments and music. We play together, improvise, and create new songs. Music is important to us, as is going to live events to experience music, theatre, puppets, etc. We have actually tried our hand at building them and have worked with professional puppet-builders and puppeteers on our shows and projects. They are all over the house. Squirrels, Kermit the Frog, you name it!
Phillip enjoyed school and particularly excelled in English. He was part of the art program and did tech work for various performances. After high school, Phillip went to Cal Arts for animation, where he completed one semester of course work, before becoming an apprentice at Warner Bros. This started his animation career, and he left school to pursue full-time work. Since then, he works freelance or in-house and loves working on animated shows at Disney, Cartoon Network, and PBS. When Phillip is not working, he likes to travel and work on house projects. He is also constantly working on side-animated projects, developing projects to pitch, and film ideas.
Phillip’s career is interesting and unique! From making movies to drawing Mickey Mouse, the Animaniacs and Bugs Bunny, Phillip's day to day is filled with art, education and cinema. He works on all the shows kids grow up watching and loving. He also leads others in his creative pursuits as well by envisioning a story and bringing it to life with other talented collaborators at a big studio.
Jorjeana grew up on a farm in rural Pennsylvania. She remembers climbing trees, singing, dancing, and just enjoying nature around her. Her family even grew their own food. A lot of living in nature and solitude plays a huge part in her creative process.
In college, she was cast in a big role in a play, and the shift to art and theater changed everything for her. At 19, she moved to New York City, started working in theater, and was accepted to NYU. After school, Jorjeana did stand-up comedy for a few years. She then moved to Los Angeles to continue with her career. She worked in theater, taught workshops, and was a part of programs for schools and performing arts camps. She also taught improv! Now she writes for Disney, and is currently working on writing some books. She loves her work, and is very satisfied and happy with her career.
When Jorjeana is not working, she enjoys being active. She likes to try new experiences and explore the city, including museums and bookstores. She tries to exercise every day, likes to eat and cook healthy meals, and is a machine at whipping up fruit and veggie smoothies that are both healthy AND yummy! She also meditates for at least five minutes every morning. She feels that it helps her to spread a sense of calm to her day.
Our careers are flexible and unique for child care! Jorjeana works most days from home and when she has to go to meetings, they are usually flexible. Phillip has a job that is also flexible and both have days where one is at home or can be home within minutes. (Phillip draws for cartoons either at a production studio or at home, so he’s flexible, too.)
We are very fortunate to have a spacious, well-built home with a flower-filled front yard that butterflies and hummingbirds like to visit. The backyard has a garden, berry bushes and room for a treehouse by the creek! There is a path from the back door that leads to Winnie the Pooh’s Hundred Acre Woods! Almost! It’s a 108 acre park with trails, a little lending library and a pond stocked with fish! Jorjeana is a huge lover of swings and hammocks, so those are aplenty there as well on the TWO decks! One deck is for grilling and the other has hammocks and an herb garden that supplies many home cooked meals! Chef Phillip loves grilling and making meals from around the world and Jorjeana loves baking!
Every bedroom is cheery with a peaceful view of nature out the windows. We have a music room for playing a variety of instruments and discovering sounds. There’s even a wrap-around swing-inside the house! Perfect for reading or sleeping in.
The playground with slides, swings, a rock climbing wall and basketball court is a block away. Kids and families meet up there to play games and for parties. There is also a saltwater pool with kids swimming teams and lessons and several tennis courts. The neighborhood is great for strolls, and family cycling trips.
We have a lot of parks, libraries, movie theatres, friends and adventures all around us. We walk a LOT and enjoy trips into nature. Some of our friends in our neighborhood have babies and small children, so there are a lot of socializing and play-date possibilities. We know everyone in our cul de sac and spend time connecting and sharing recipes, garden harvests and art projects.
All of our friends are either creative or supportive or both! They are the kinds of people who will show up to lend a hand, give advice, or offer help. And always, to love. We have joint camping trips and days at the beach as well as trips to our favorite cabin in the mountains. Afternoons at the local parks and Disneyland are always fun with our friends and their kids too!
Thanksgiving is a big one for us. We open our home to our friends and our friends’ friends and spend the time together talking about what we are grateful for, what we are looking forward to and yes, amazing food. Jorjeana grew up carrying made-from-scratch pumpkin pies all the way from the kitchen outside to a wood burning stove. Although we don’t have a wood-burning stove, Jorjeana still makes the tasty pumpkin pies from-scratch using mom’s recipe – and they go fast!
We are so excited to become parents! We have a fun life that we look forward to sharing with a child. We have been very blessed with wonderful people around us with their own beautiful families and we live such creative lives that we feel we can lovingly create a magical home for a child.
We are ready to share our home, create unlimited wonder and joy, and are sincerely looking forward to meeting you!
