We are Thu & Justin from San Diego, California. We feel truly grateful to be considered as adoptive parents to your child and want you to know they will be welcomed into our family with unconditional love. Although we already have two children, Brandon (13) and Kaitlyn (1), we both have dreamt of having a large family, and feel adoption is a wonderful way to fulfill those dreams of expanding our family.
Hello!
About Us
We met in 2011 while working at the same Medical Device company. Justin lost a bet to Thu about a project deadline and had to take her out to dinner. Perhaps he lost on purpose, but that dinner was the beginning of us. For the next 5 years, we had a lot of fun going on trips together, planning date nights, and getting to know each other. We were married at a gorgeous winery in Temecula, California in 2017 and celebrated with our families and close friends.
As much as we love living in San Diego, our true passion is traveling. We love traveling both domestically and internationally to learn about different cultures and try new adventures. We’ve taken cooking classes in Italy, gone snorkeling in Belize, went deep sea diving in Mexico, fishing in Alaska, snorkeling with Manta Rays in Hawaii, snowboarding in Colorado, and canyoneering in Utah.
About Justin, by Justin
I grew up as one of four children in the Midwest, living in Kansas City until I was 12, then moving to Cincinnati, Ohio. I stayed in Ohio for college attending Case Western Reserve University where I majored in Biomedical Engineering while playing on the university soccer team.
I grew up playing a bunch of different sports but settled on baseball and soccer. My competitive nature and hard work allowed me to compete in multiple national championship tournaments throughout my soccer career and helped me earn a spot on my college soccer team.
I am currently the Director of Research and Development at a medical device company in San Diego. In my spare time I enjoy coaching Brandon’s sports teams, working on house projects, almost anything outdoors, watching football, and spending time with the family. I love to learn and teach, and dream of continuing to do both of those with a growing family.

About Justin, by Thu
Justin is truly the most thoughtful and caring person I know. He always puts others’ happiness before his without ever complaining. He is the type of person who will offer me the last bite of his favorite cake because he knows how much I love cake. Justin is also an incredibly patient and loving parent to our children. As a stepdad to Brandon, he embraced him with unconditional love from the very beginning. He’s more than the cool, fun guy that coaches soccer but also a great role model and mentor who Brandon looks up to.
About Thu, by Thu
I grew up in San Jose, California. My household was always loud, crazy, but fun with my 3 siblings. After high school, I moved to San Diego where I attended the University of San Diego for college. Growing up, I played the piano and was very involved in community service through my church.
I currently work as a Purchasing Manager for a company that detects cancer early. I work remotely from home, which allows me the flexibility to drop off and pick up the kids from school, sports, and daycare. This flexibility will also allow me to be a present parent to your child from the moment they are born.
I love being active and have been known by family and friends as a “busy-body”. I am constantly cleaning the house, planning the next family trip, working on decorating a new room in the house, or taking walks around the neighborhood with the kids.
I am an avid runner and have completed a half-ironman, 3 marathons, and over 30 half-marathons. Running is my mental escape from stress and keeps me balanced and energized to keep up with the kids!

About Thu, by Justin
Thu is so many different things and amazing at all of them. She is an incredible wife who knows how to push me to be my best, while being patient and understanding at the same time. She is a loving mother who dedicates so much of her time to make sure that everyone feels loved and taken care of. She is driven and passionate in everything that she does from baking cookies to competing in triathlons. Thu immediately becomes the favorite aunt and the mom that other kids want to spend time with. She just loves to make sure that everyone is taken care of and having fun with whatever they are doing.
About Brandon and Kaitlyn, by Thu and Justin
Brandon is smart, funny, and overall a great kid. He has always been considerate of others and always goes the extra mile to make his friends and family feel extra special especially on their birthdays. He’s an amazing big brother to Kaitlyn, teaching her how to give high-fives and fist bumps. We have no doubt he will continue being a great big brother to his new sibling.
Brandon’s favorite things: soccer, pizza, hanging out with his friends, family movie nights, Minecraft
Quote from Brandon: I’m really excited to have a new brother or sister and I know they’ll grow up in a great environment!
Kaitlyn is full of energy, always running around and laughing. She is already the loud one in the family and waves hi and talks to everyone we see on neighborhood walks or in the store. She likes to run around the parks and swing when she is not chasing her big brother around.
Kaitlyn’s favorite things: spaghetti, empty boxes, the zoo, “Roston” her stuffed monkey
Our Home and Community
San Diego is such a beautiful city where the weather is almost perfect year-round. We do our best to take advantage of “America’s Finest City” by staying active outdoors with biking, running, hiking, and catching waves at the beach.
We live in a great neighborhood full of families with children who we’ve become great friends with. Our neighbors take turns hosting events including outdoor movie nights, weekend brunches, family game nights, and backyard bonfires.
Our neighborhood has a large network of trails that run through it. We can bike or hike the trails from behind our house to a little marketplace for breakfast or to the neighborhood park where Brandon plays soccer and Kaitlyn plays on the jungle gym. There are also two community swim & racquet clubs where we like to swim, play mini-golf, and hang out with our friends. The schools in our neighborhood are highly ranked and are within walking distance from our house. We feel truly blessed to have found this incredible neighborhood with amazing neighbors.
Our Friends and Family
Despite not living near any of our families, we are very close to our parents and siblings. Twice a year, we take trips with Justin’s parents, Bob and Debbie, his brother, Jason, two sisters, Megan and Molly, and their spouses and kids. We try to pick new locations to visit and explore. Some of the places we’ve visited are Corde d’Alene, New Orleans, Nashville, and Zion National Park.
Thu’s family is only a 7-hour drive away, so we see Thu’s parents, Tran and Dang, her sister, Ann, her two brothers, Viet and Toan, and their spouses and kids quite often. Thu’s parents still live in the same house she grew up in so it’s always exciting to go back home and show the kids all of the places where she used to hang out.
Between both families, our kids have 12 cousins ranging from ages 1 to 23 so we always have a fun time playing games, laughing, and hanging out with each other. Both sides of the family are thrilled about us choosing to grow our family through adoption. They cannot wait to spoil their new grandchild with hugs and kisses!
