My name is Amber & I’m from San Diego, California. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and for considering me as an adoptive parent for your child.
I’m very excited to be able to connect with you and share a little about myself. I can’t imagine how difficult a decision like this must be for you, and I have nothing except respect for you as you enter this journey. I hope that after reading my profile, you will be reassured that your child will be raised in a home committed to safety, stability, and love.
I have always wanted to be a mother, ever since I was a small child myself. I have always known that adoption would be part of my journey to becoming a parent. I feel that right now is the right time to expand my heart and family with adoption. Enjoy looking through this profile and learning more about me and the type of parent I can be for your child.
With all my love and respect,
All About Me
I have lived in San Diego for most of my life. I am a happy and friendly person. One of my greatest accomplishments was completing my credentials to become a teacher. I absolutely love my job, especially because I get to watch children learn and grow every single day!
People describe be as…
Important Pieces That Make Me the Person I Am
- My Family: My family is everything to me. They encourage me, they support me, and they are always there for me.
- My Friends: My friends are a constant in my life. I don’t let everyone earn the status of “good friend,” but once it’s earned, they are in my life forever.
- My Pets: I walk my dogs every single day, and I have recently started working with a personal dog trainer that has shown me how to play fun training games with them!
My Journey to Adoption: I started looking into adoption many years ago, and I know that the time is right. I am ready to bring a child into my home and raise him/her with love. I know that, even though I am a single parent, I have enough love to share with a child. I know that I can care for a child in the best way possible and that I can give them everything they need. Knowing these things, I know it is the right time to enter the adoption process.
Home Sweet Home
I live in San Diego, where I have lived for most of my life. I live in a 4-bedroom home in a small neighborhood. We have a park directly across the street with a large grass area and a playground. My home contains a huge backyard with a brand-new pool and large space for running and playing. I have two gardens, an English Garden and a vegetable garden, that I just put in this year. I’m hoping to keep the vegetable garden going from year to year! The tomatoes that grew this year were amazing!
The schools in our area are the best in the county and are considered neighborhood schools, which means that they are smaller and service the neighborhoods directly around them. We have very highly rated schools and I am privileged to work at one of them.
I Love My Job as a Teacher: Teaching has been a huge part of my life, mostly because I get to help shape the minds of our future generations. Being a teacher means that I can take an extra long leave to be home with a new baby, in addition to the many extended breaks throughout the year. I’ve always loved working with children, so it’s no surprise that I chose teaching.
About My Dogs: I have two dogs, Regina and Bella. They love coming along with the family on our many adventures. Regina was brought home as a puppy and Bella was almost a year old when she came into our lives. Regina is very energetic and loves playing with bubbles and kids! Bella is a little more reserved and enjoys sitting and relaxing, especially next to someone who is reading a book. She is great with kids, loving to share their blankets for nap times more than anything!
I have a wide range of hobbies including…
- Going to the theatre
- Visiting the zoo
- Relaxing by my pool
- Baking and cooking
I Love Traveling: So far, my favorite place to visit has been Paris, France. My goal is to visit every Disney park in the world, and so far, I have seen 8 of them! I love finding hidden waterfalls on hikes, trying new foods, and experiencing new cultures. I always try to fully immerse myself in the culture I am visiting.
Things I Look Forward to Sharing with Your Child
- A love of reading
- A love and respect for animals
- A love of traveling
Family and Friends
I am part of a very close family. Almost all of my family live less than 20 minutes away, meaning we have lots of opportunities for adventures together! We spend a lot of time together, from eating dinner together to traveling around the world.
My friends have been in my life for many years, and they are very excited to share in this journey with me. In fact, when I announced that I was going to be adopting, my best friend responded with, “It’s about time. I’m not even surprised.”
My good friend has sons who call me “Auntie” and I love spending time with them. We do everything together, from spending time fishing, walking the dogs, and trying out new recipes together!
My Favorite Activities to Do with Family and Friends
My Thoughts on Parenting: Parenting is a full time job, and more than a full time responsibility. I feel as though I have been preparing for this role my entire life. I look forward to sharing my interests and hobbies with our child, and I hope they find similar interests. I am excited to see what type of hobbies they choose for themselves. I hope to do what my parents have done for me, and allow our child to further their interests and hobbies by encouraging them to pursue them. The “village” around me is excited to be able to share their wide range of interests with our child, as well. They often collaborate as to who gets to share which topic, and who will combine efforts to give the child the best understanding of the world around him or her.
- To encourage your child to pursue what interests them
- To read to your child every single day
- To allow your child to experience different cultures and life experiences through travel as often as possible
In Closing, Thank You! I know that adoption is the right path for me. It’s something that I have pondered over for years, and I feel that now is the time to make it a reality. I know that I have the ability to give a child everything he or she will need to be successful in life.
Thank you again for taking the time to read my profile. I hope this has given a glimpse into my life, and the life I hope to share with a child. I look forward to connecting with you as you continue on this journey.
