Dear Birth Mother
Hello! I am Elizabeth from Eastern Washington!
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile to learn more about me and my life, including my wonderful family and friends. You have challenging decisions to make, and I want you to know that I deeply respect your courage and love for your child. As I think about your choice to pursue adoption, I admire your strength and selflessness.
Ever since I was a teenager, I have always wanted to become a parent through adoption. Now that I have completed my education, am a homeowner, and have a stable fulfilling career, I am ready and so excited to welcome a child into my life and home. As you read through my profile, I hope you can envision your child being raised in a loving home surrounded by a strong support system. I look forward to providing a warm, safe, and fun environment for your child to flourish and grow into a happy, confident individual who will make a positive impact on the world. I have many happy memories of my childhood, and I look forward to sharing similar adventures with my future child to help them learn, develop, and experience the world.
I live in beautiful Eastern Washington where we are fortunate to experience the four seasons of the Pacific Northwest: spring bulbs and flowering trees, summer hot sunny days, fall changing leaves, and winter sparkling white snow.
I grew up in Boise, Idaho, where I was raised by loving, supportive parents. Some of my favorite childhood memories include biking on the greenbelt by the river, competing in swim meets, performing with an Irish Dance team, running track, and playing with our many pets. My parents moved to Washington state while I was in college, so I chose to attend graduate school in a nearby Washington city which I am happy to still call home almost a decade later.
My Career: After earning my master’s degree 6 years ago, I began my career as a Speech Language Pathologist (“Speech Therapist”). During my graduate education, I took many classes in child development, especially speech/language development, which has helped me feel confident in my ability to be a good parent and to support my child in reaching their full potential. I work with patients, both younger and older, who have recently experienced a stroke or brain injury to help them learn to communicate and swallow again. I am always amazed by my patients’ hard work and resilience during their recovery process. I am fortunate to work with many great therapists and am thankful that my job truly has a “family type” atmosphere. Recently, I’ve begun teaching college classes (one a semester) at my alma mater; I love sharing my knowledge and experience with students who are studying to also become Speech Therapists.
My Hobbies: In my spare time, I enjoy exercising, reading, baking, being outdoors while hiking/walking, spending time with family/friends, nature photography, and caring for my home.
A few of my favorite things:
- Animals: Penguins & Goats
- Exercise: Kickboxing & Hiking
- Snacks: Peanut M&Ms & Milkshakes
- TV Shows: This is Us & Parks and Rec
- Movies: I love Rom Coms!
My Family and Friends
My Family: My parents live in a nearby town also in Eastern Washington. We get see each other often since I love to visit them when I have time off work, or they will come up for a day trip to my city where we enjoy shopping, hiking, eating out at restaurants, or home improvement projects. My mom and I are especially close and talk on the phone most days. My parents are very supportive of my plan to adopt as they know this has been a long-term dream of mine. They are also very excited to become grandparents again (my sister who lives in Colorado has a 3-year-old son). My mom, who has a master’s degree in early childhood education, will be helping with me with childcare. I have a large extended family; I am especially close with two of my cousins who also are excited for me to become a mom through adoption.
My Friends: I am fortunate to have many long-term friendships and stay in touch with them even if they live in other states. I love to watch my friends’ kids so they can enjoy a date night. I’m so lucky that I get to work with my best friend Kari who lives only four blocks away from me. Her kids Melanie and Landon are my honorary niece and nephew. I love to spend time with them for movie/game nights, arts/crafts, holidays, and birthday parties.
Things my friends say about me:
- She puts her heart into everything she does
- She is loving and strives for closeness in her friendships
- She sees the good in life; it’s refreshing
- She is a loyal friend and truly sincere
- She has a joyful laugh and an award-winning walking pace
From my friends and family:
“Elizabeth will be an amazing mother! She has been researching, planning, and dreaming about adopting for years now. She is amazing with children, giving them her full attention, laughter, and love! She is a natural teacher, which every child needs. I cannot wait for Elizabeth to adopt a baby – that baby will have an incredible life, full of love and opportunity!”
“Elizabeth is one of my truest most understanding friends. I can come to her with anything and I know without a doubt she will listen to me and be there through it all. She’s kindly helped me see the times I’ve been wrong and also stands by me when I’m right. Good lifelong friends are rare these days and I am blessed to have found one in Elizabeth. Those are just some of the traits that make a mom wonderful. I know without a doubt that Elizabeth will be all of that and so much more to a child.”
“It really will be the most wonderful thing to see Elizabeth become a mom. It makes me happy to know she’s going to do this through adoption. It will be the best thing ever for that baby, and she will be so great at being a mom.”
“Elizabeth is such a great friend and great ‘aunt.’ Anyone would be fortunate and blessed to have her as a mother just as we are blessed to have her as a friend.”
My Home and Community
My Home: I live in Eastern Washington in a beautiful newly constructed 3 bed/2 bath home which I bought almost 5 years ago. Over the last few years, I have loved decorating my home to make it feel more like me with a splash of HGTV’s Joanna Gaines’ farmhouse style! I love sitting and reading in front of my gas fireplace; I look forward to reading bedtime stories with my future child in this cozy space. My kitchen is my favorite part of my home; I can’t wait to teach my future child to bake chocolate chip cookies.
My Community: I am fortunate to live in a safe, family-friendly community within walking distance of schools, parks (even a splash pad), walking paths, restaurants, and ice cream shops! The library, community swimming pool, and the hospital where I work are just a short drive away. After work, I love to visit my city’s botanical gardens to enjoy fresh air, gorgeous flowers, and an evening walk. This winter, the city hosted a drive-through winter lights display in the gardens; I hope this becomes an annual Christmas tradition.
Activities I look forward to doing with my future child in my hometown:
- Aquarium and zoo visits
- Library story time
- Ice cream shop on a summer day
- Swimming lessons
- Ice skating and playing in the snow
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know more about me and my life that I wish to share with a child!
I will always put your child first. I will set reasonable expectations and boundaries to make your child feel safe. My mom will be helping me with childcare so that your child will not need to go to daycare at all during their first year of life. Once they are toddler-age, they will attend a nationally accredited childcare center within walking distance of my home for only three days a week with my mom still helping with childcare one day a week.
Adoption has been something I have dreamed of for many years. I hope that by reading my profile, you can see that I am eager to give my all to provide a nurturing, loving, and secure home for your child. I will encourage them in their interests to help them find their passions in life. I will always speak positively of you, letting your child know about their adoption story and the love that you have for them.
Things I will teach your child:
- The importance of always learning, both inside and outside of school
- The value of working hard to achieve their goals
- The benefit of forming strong relationships with family and friends
- The worth of treating others with kindness and respect
- The knowledge that my love for them is always unconditional
I look forward to connecting with you as you continue on this journey,
