Hello! We are Rohit and Bismay from beautiful Northern California. Thank you for considering us as your child’s adoptive parents. We hope to share with you a glimpse into our lives, our families, and how excited we are to embark upon this journey to parenthood. We hope that we get the chance to meet you so that we can learn more about you, as well as your hopes and dreams for your child.

“Do you want to have kids?” was a second date question and we both knew this is something we strongly wanted. We have always felt a lot of love from our families and eagerly want to share the same by expanding our little world. We hope that we get a chance to meet you and share more about us, our lives, our philosophies, our hopes and our dreams.

We met in the yogurt aisle. No, not really. We met online and after a brief chat decided to meet in person. The minute we laid our eyes on each other; we knew there was something there. After 5 hours of nonstop chatting and a mid-night meal, we decided to call it a night. That week we met again almost every single day. One month later we exchanged the golden words ‘I Love You’ and have been inseparable ever since.

We both moved to San Francisco and started a life here. Fast forward 8 years, we purchased a home together and were married in early 2021! Looking back, we have gone through a lot of ups and downs, but our value systems are very much aligned and that’s what helps us get through any difficult situation. We know this will help us as parents as well. We cannot wait to be the “fun parents” and spend every waking minute with them, sharing how much we love and trust them. We look forward to having lazy Sunday mornings starting with brunch and spending the rest of day in our backyard or at a nearby beach or park.

Bismay is a very warmhearted person. He has this unique ability of making you feel loved, safe and valued. Be it a kid or an adult, it is difficult to escape his charm. Bismay’s face lights up when he is in the company of children. He turns into one of them and starts acting ‘sillier’ than his usual self. You can hear them giggle and be silly from a mile away.

He often takes time out of his busy schedule to spend time with our friends’ kids. He is the perfect Yin to my Yang and together we make a fun, yet responsible couple that kids enjoy spending time with.

I love reading books, I always have since I was a kid. I am interested in mythology, fantasy and science fiction. I feel learning about various mythologies gives me an insight into the different cultures and people and brings me a little closer to others. It helps me broaden my mind and pushes my imagination further. This has also led me to be curious and interested about languages and etymologies.

Rohit is one of the most motivated and energetic people I know. He is also passionate, caring, and values the people in his life most.

He has worked really hard to be where he is and continues to do so every day without fail, which is very inspiring to me. The reason I love him is the incredible connection that we developed right away. Although it was his good looks that attracted me to him, it was his heart, our shared values and common life goals that made me fall in love with him. He also has a very playful side to him that springs out whenever he is with kids. The kids in our lives have figured the same out as he is the go-to person for them when it’s time to play.

I enjoy gardening, running and trying new restaurants around town with friends and family. I love staying active whether it’s going to the gym, for a hike or dance practice. I love the outdoors and hope to visit every major national park by the time I turn 60. As a kid I loved Bollywood which led me to train in an Indian classical dance form called ‘Kathak’ for about 5 years. Someday I would love to teach our future child and have a performance at home! I am an avid and intuitive cook, following my instincts and improvising the recipes along the way. When I have free time I enjoy browsing through the latest spy inspired thriller drama series or movies.

We own a little piece of heaven in a diverse quintessential California neighborhood of Redwood City. On our block you will find families that come from different economic backgrounds, religious beliefs, political affiliations and sexual orientations. You will find all of us supporting a neighborhood parade or catching a glimpse of fireworks on the 4th of July. Summer times are the most fun with kids running around playing, parents taking strolls outside and some really cute dogs sniffing the flowers in neighborhood yards. When our parents visit, there is not a single day when we don’t get to hear about how difficult it was for them to resist plucking a peach, lemon or orange from a neighbor’s tree. Luckily, we have a few trees of our own like peach, orange, guava, plum, lemon and small vegetable garden that supplies us tomatoes, bell peppers, peppers, basil, rosemary and few other herbs during the spring and summers. We often envision sitting in our backyard while the kids are playing with water hoses in the grass lawn. What a perfect evening.

We are fortunate to have a very tight knit set of close friends and family. Both of our immediate families are in India and our close friends here are our local family. Many of them had kids over the last 4 years and we have had the front row seat to see how they transitioned into being responsible parents. It takes a village to raise a child and we are each other’s village.

We share a great bond with our immediate families and we know we can count on
them when we need their help. We take family trips together and each of our families visit us every other year for a few months during spring-summer.

Rohit’s parents and his younger sister and brother-in-law live in Mumbai, India. He came out to them about 12 years ago. They have grown to respect Rohit’s and Bismay’s relationship and be part of their lives.

Bismay’s parents and younger brother and sister-in-law live in small town in the east coast of India. Like Rohit, Bismay came out to his family almost a decade ago and they have come around to love Bismay and Rohit for who they are. Both of their families claim that they have 4 kids now, and are excited and looking forward to welcoming a grandchild into their family.

I feel so blessed to have them both as part of our lives and build this special bond full of love and affection; fun and silliness and respect and patience with my son and now with my 20 month old daughter as well.”

After speaking to many of our friends, we do believe that there is no “one size fits all” parenting style. We know that we will need to constantly evolve as your child grows.

We will provide a safe space with the support of a diverse community so that they will thrive and achieve their utmost potential. We are both strong believers of leading by example. We will do our best to model behavior that helps to develop these qualities and values:

We will be first time parents so we will lean on experiences of our friends, parents and professional guidance available through various channels. We are both planning to coordinate and take full advantage of our parental leave benefits to spend time and bond with our child. We cannot wait to love your child unconditionally.

We are looking forward to sharing the same love we have felt in our lives from our families and friends with our future child. We understand and immensely respect the responsibility that will come with raising a child.
